TOWN OF DANBY
PUBLIC HEARING ON PRELIMINARY BUDGET
November 8 , 1978
The Town Board of the Town of Danby held a public hearing November
8 , 1978 , at 8 : 00 P . M . at the Danby Town Hall , 1830 Danby Road . The
purpose of the hearing, which was duly advertised , was to review the
preliminary budget and give any person or persons desiring to be
heard and opportunity to be heard in favor of or against the prelimin -
ary budget as compiled or for or against any item therein contained .
Board members present : Supervisor A . Francis Wright
Councilman Ralph Wilbur
Councilman Dorothy Roberts
Councilman Robert Snedden
• Justice Floyd Dorn
Others present : Mike Quinlin , Charles Bruce , Jack Baker , Fred Thayer ,
Rhoda Larson , Paul Smith , Mary Smith , E . J . Miller III , Jimmie Miller
and Ed Slights .
Copies of the preliminary budget were given out to the people present .
Jack Baker , one of the fire commissioners , went over the fire district
budget explaining the need for the increase over last year . Danby
Fire Chief reported on the increase in fire calls as well as the
increase in calls for the rescue squad both in Danby and West Danby .
Supervisor Wright went over the budget item by item answering
questions . It was mentioned that there are no salary increases
included in the 1979 preliminary budget . Budgeting of the Revenue
Sharing Funds was discussed .
Jimmie Miller asked that the Town Board reconsider the $ 1 , 000 . 00
allocated for senior citizens in the budget . He would like to see
them get the $ 1200 . 00 which is what they asked for .
Several comments have been made concerning the way the election
inspectors performed their duties at the November 7 , 1978 election .
One of the voting machines has a possible defect . Due to these
findings it was recommended that there be an increase in the budget
for elections . This would make funds available to repair the
machines and to train election inspectors . The recommended increase
was for $ 500 . 00 .
