TOWN OF DANBY SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES January 20 , 1977 A special meeting of the Danby Town Board was held with the Town of Danby Highway employees and Insurance Agent William Downes to discuss a health insurance program for the highway people . Board members present : Supervisor A . Francis Wright Councilman Paul Smith Justice Floyd Dorn Justice Milton Todd • Board member absent : Councilman Ralph Wilbur • Others present : William Downes , Dean Westmiller , Joseph Hulbert , Edward Slights , Kenneth Compton , Leslie Palmer , Alex Soule . The meeting was called to order at 8 : 10 P . M . Mr . Downes , representing the Carey McKinney Group, presented a health insurance program which includes a life insurance policy for the highway employees to consider . Copies of the plan were given to the men for them to read and see if it would fit their needs . It was brought to the attention of the men that the life insurance which is a part of the policy would have to be paid by them as the law prohibits municipalities from paying this type of insurance . All of the men felt this was a good program and what they wanted . Councilman Paul Smith made the motion to contract with the Continental Assurance Company for comprehensive Major Medical Insurance including $ 5 , 000 . of life insurance for each of the highway employees of the Town of Danby . The life insurance to be paid by each individaul employee through payroll deduction . The town to pay the medical portion at a cost of $ 4 , 181 . 00 annually . The motion was seconded by Justice Floyd Dorn and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes . Councilman Paul Smith made the motion to aurhorize the supervisor to discontinue the Metropitan Health insurance plan presently in force and inforce the CNA plan . The motion was seconded by Justice Milton Todd and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes . Mr . Downes having reviewed the total town insurance program presented the board with his recommendations for them to consider . The insurance committee will go over this information and make recommendations . In other business Justice Milton Todd made the motion to authorize the clerk to write a letter of release on the Town Hall Renovation Contract with the advise of Supervisor Wright . The motion was seconded by Councilman Paul Smith and carried by a vote _ of four ayes • and no noes . After discussing the problem of pipes freezing up in the Town Hall , Justice Milton Todd made the motion to purchase a portable electric heater . The motion was seconded by Councilman Paul Smith and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes . Justice Milton Todd made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9 : 50P . M .
