DANBY FIRE DISTRICT
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
June 9, 2026
Commissioner Westmiller called the regular meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.

Call to Order
Minutes: Preliminary minutes for June 9, 2026, Regular Meeting were sent to the Town Clerk on June 22, 2026, for posting to
Town’s website and posted on District Website.
Commissioner Westmiller moved to approve the minutes of the June 9, 2026, Regular Meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner
Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Treasurer’s Report:
• CD to renew at Tompkins Trust Company for 9 months at 3.6%
Commissioner Freedman made a motion to approve the CD at Tompkins Trust Company be renewed for 9 months at 3.6%. Motion
seconded by Commissioner Westmiller. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Westmiller moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried
4 yes 0 no.

APPROVAL OF BILLS:
Commissioner Freedman moved to pay the vouchers as audited and approved on Operating Account Abstract 6-C $5,390.17 claims 159-
170. Motion seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich carried 4 yes 0 no.
CHIEF’S REPORTS:
DVFC: (Chief Gaden)
• Water softener fixed and serviced. Will do annually.
WDFC: (1st Asst Chief Ken VanEtten)
• Will likely see an increase in the water bill as they filled the trucks after the last training
• Chief Gaden reported 1401 needs to be repaired, discovered at the last joint training that the pressure relief valves will need
repair. Ward’s Apparatus will need to come to the station. Discussion held on having Ward’s see if they can repair the tire
leak at the same time.

• Commissioner Westmiller reported the Request For Proposals for the concrete repair work at both stations and the repairs to
the floors at West Danby Station will be published this week.

• Discussion held on tanker information given to 1st Asst. Chief VanEtten from Chief Gaden.
• Discussion about sending RFP for annual preventative maintenance for apparatus and pumps
• Discussion held on hose, ladder, hard suction annual testing and publishing RFPs for same.

APPROVALS of TRAININGS, ITEMS OR SERVICES TO BE PURCHASED:
Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to approve $137.00 for firefighter physical at Guthrie Medical. Motion seconded by
Commissioner Oltz. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Freedman made a motion to pay Meridian for the water supply training on June 22, 2026. Motion seconded by
Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Faehndrich made a motion to approve an additional $135.00 on the Firematic invoice for 2 helmet shields. Motion
seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Faehndrich made a motion to approve the payment of $498.00 for the annual alarm testing by Alarmtech. Motion
seconded by Commissioner Oltz. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Freedman made a motion to approve the payment of $370.00 for the repair and service of the water softener at the Danby
Fire Station done by Lowe’s Soft Water Service. Motion seconded by Commissioner Oltz. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Faehndrich made a motion to approve the repairs to 1401 by Ward’s Apparatus up to $1,500.00 for the repair of the bad
tire and relief valves. Motion seconded by Commissioner Westmiller. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.

• 07/14/26 at 6:30 – regular meeting with budget workshop to follow
