HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-01-07-WDWD Meeting MinutesWest Danby Water District Monthly meeting for January 7, 2026 Meeting called at 5:40pm by District Clerk Marrell Cortright Members present: Todd Sukontarak, Steve Cortright, Lenny Dodge, Shawn Wendt, Marrell Cortright, Ben Coakly. Last month's minutes were emailed out. Motion to approve made by Lenny, seconded by Tod, all in favor. Vouchers: Lowes – Marrell Cortright presented - Office paint, switch cover, door mat - $60.26 Lowes – Zach Larkin presented– Office circuit breaker - - $61.54 Lowes – Zach Larkin presented – Office thermostat - - $34.32 Yaws – regular monthly water testing - - $ 55.00 Yaws – second test requested by Tompkins Health due to a drop in Chlorine levels – tested fine - $ 55.00 Operators Report - The monthly pumping average for December was 17,559 gals. The handheld skipped many meters this time; we had a lot of re -reads for some reason. New Business - Tod and Ben attended the town board meeting on Monday, January 6. Ben gave a brief history of the water system to the town board members and why we need this engineering study. Ben also conveyed that the water board has decided to go with the Hunt Engineering, and we would like the Town board to support us on this decision. The Town of Danby Town Board does support us going with the Hunt engineering firm and then the town board approved the water district to spend up to $60,000 for the engineering study. The engineering firms that did not make the interview process need to be thanked. The engineer firms that we didn’t accept after the interview process also need to be thanked. Ben offered to make these notifications. Really high -water usage at 14 Station Rd. The water operators went down to investigate, check the meter and do another reading. The homeowner determined that it was a toilet running through. The toilet was shut off right then. After a discussion by the water board members, a motion was made by Lenny and seconded by Tod to contact the homeowner about payment options to address the high usage and encourage them to repair the leaking toilet. The operators are monitoring weekly meter reads to ensure there isn’t another high reading. Marrell will handle the issue. When we set up the meeting with Hunt Engineers, Beck would like to be there, and Hunt should be asked to bring their financial person to the first meeting. Motion to adjourn made by Shawn, seconded by Tod. All in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:35pm Next monthly meeting will be Wednesday, February 4th at 5pm.
