Reports and Presentations
County Legislature Rep Dan Klein Sent an email to the Town Board last week regarding a
non -for -profit broadband provider, Southern Tier Network, building out fiber on the far east
side of Danby. They are contracting with other internet service providers. Those who will be
served should have received a postcard with instructions to see if you maybe served and what
the next steps are. Klein said residents can get more information at

Klein stated that New York State is putting together a final plan to cover the entire state
including all of Tompkins County with broadband. Klein had written a grant for fiber for
Tompkins County, but the state has proposed licensed fixed wireless, which may cost users
between $40 and $120 per month.
Crane asked if some of the roads on which Southern Tier Network was expanding were also
served by Time Warner Cable. Klein was not entirely sure but said that Southern Tier Network
wrote their grant and had it awarded and assumed that they documented unserved areas.
Supervisor Gagnon added that Southern Tier Network did include some dead spots in Danby.
Crane offered that his fixed wireless through Version was an improvement over what he had
with Clarity.
Highway Report — L. Shawley reported that Highway completed the approved chip sealing on
the designated roads.
Supervisor's Reports: No budget transfers.

Resolution 236 of 2025 To Cite the Dawson Property Occupant Under the Town's Junk Law
Moved by Hunter Seconded by Connors
The Board discussed the complaints regarding 492 Nelson Road and the fact that the Code
Officer, after surveying the property, did not find support for the chief complaint about an
automotive repair shop on the property. Dillon read out loud from the Code Officers 9/08/2025
Report:
"There is not an excessive amount of rubbish visible from the road. I am unable to verify
the compliant of excessive rubbish on the property as it is not visible from the road or
the complainant's driveway. The complainant has provided a photo of the property
from overhead which I cannot legally use. As far as the number of sheds this may be a
zoning violation of impervious surface. And the issue of some of the sheds being on the
complainant's property is not a Town issue."
Dillon passed out printed copies of the Code Officers report to the board. Discussion ensued.
Hunter expressed a desire to help the complainant. Connors said, "If he's got three vehicles
that aren't running — that is a violation."
Resolution 236 of 2025 Amended: To Direct the Code Officer to Pursue the Violation that the
Town Board Insists Exists on the Property on Nelson Road.
