West Danby Water Meeting Minutes
April 2, 2025
Meeting called to order at 15:10 by Ben Coakley
Attending: Ben Coakley, Marrell Cortright, Scott Wendt, Shawn Wendt, Skip Fairchild, Marie
Monroe, Marge Seaman, Pat Woodworth, Town Code Officer - Steve Cortright, Joel Gagnon
Guest – Scott Freyberger – Tompkins Co Health
Vouchers -
Yaws - monthly water testing - $105.00 (two tests this time – Coliform & Nitrates)
Amrex - $332.00
Minteer Construction - $5,190.00 (water main break – Maple & Valley View)
Ben Coakley – water purchased for boil water - $179.33
Lowes – charge card – building project - $123.32
Tompkins County Health Department – $200.00 (annual fee)
Scott Freyberger – Discussed updating our Emergency plan/rewriting it. Also discussed looking
into grant funding for an engineering study for the possibility of upgrading the system.
The March minutes were emailed to everyone. Motion to accept the minutes made by Skip,
seconded by Marie. All in favor.
Privilege of the floor - None
Operator Report – We pumped 13,000 gals a day this last month. Chlorine levels have stayed
consistent/even. Hydrant flushing will be May 12 (north end) and May 13 (south end).
Quarterly reads were done on 4/1. Shane Spencer’s read came through as a low battery. This is
the first one to read this but we were warned when they were installed that this would start to
happen at some point years down the road. They have only a 10 year life span. Lead and
Copper testing are due this year.
Building update- Ceiling is installed and the wall boards are ordered. Wall board was paid for
already but not picked up. We have no way to store them. Marrell has contacted NUHause so
they know we are almost ready for them.
Peter McDonald has resigned from the West Danby Water Board in a written email. Marge is
submitting the paperwork required by the town board to fill in for the remainder of his term to
give the water board time to look for a replacement. Skip makes the motion to appoint Marge
Seamon as a temporary replacement on the Board in Peter’s spot, Marie seconded this motion,
all are in favor. Marge accepts this course of action.
Ben will be on a Zoom meeting with Danby Town Planner Greg tomorrow with several water
and sewer infrastructure people to discuss the possibility of grants that West Danby water may
qualify for.
Skip made the motion to adjourn, Marie seconded this and all were in favor.
Next meeting will be on Wednesday May 7, 2025
