Chief PUBLIC: Call to Order Pledge of Allegiance Minutes: Preliminary minutes for April 8, 2025, Regular Meeting were sent to the Town Clerk on April 22, 2025, for posting to Town’s website and were also posted on the Fire District’s Website on April 22, 2025. Commissioner Westmiller moved to approve the minutes of the April 8, 2025, Regular Meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Treasurer’s Report: • Notification from McNeil Insurance Co. that D. Peluso claim on his personal vehicle was closed. • Received billing from the Town of Danby; savings for solar credit was $3800.00 Commissioner Westmiller moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. COMMUNICATIONS: NONE Privilege of the Floor: NONE APPROVAL OF BILLS: Commissioner Freedman moved to pay the vouchers as audited and approved on Operating Account Abstract 4-C $11,036.86 claims 80- 94. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. CHIEF’S REPORTS: WDFC: (1st Asst. Chief K. VanEtten) • Station usage/functions: May 10, 2025, pancake breakfast; July 26, 2025, Chicken BBQ at Eagles Club • Training requests: H. Wright, J. Warner, and V. Brown request to attend Bootcamp in Cortland County from September 2, 2025, through December 6, 2025, no mileage reimbursement, will be using 1442. Registration fee is $170.00 each. Need schedule submitted to District Secretary. Need Training Form Request for V. Brown submitted to District Secretary. • Training request: N. Swick to take EVOC in Tompkins County, class starts April 29, 2025. Form to be submitted to District Secretary. Commissioner Westmiller moved to accept station usage request of a pancake breakfast on May 10, 2025, and accept off-site function request on July 26, 2025, at the Eagles Club in Ithaca for a chicken BBQ. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Commissioner Griggs moved to accept training requests as follows: H. Wright, J. Warner, and V. Brown to attend Cortland Bootcamp from September 3, 2025, through December 6, 2025, Chief McCray to submit training request form from V. Brown to the Distract Secretary and a Class Scheduled needs to be submitted to the District Secretary once it is issued. No mileage reimbursement. Registration fees of $170.00 each (West Danby training account). Accept N. Swick to attend EVOC in Tompkins County beginning April 29, 2025, Chief McCray to submit a training request form to the District Secretary. Motion seconded by Commissioner Westmiller. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to approve up to $120.00 for mileage reimbursement to N. Swick to attend EVOC course. (West Danby training account) Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. DVFC: (Chief Gaden) • 2 new members were voted in at the April 14, 2025, Fire Company business meeting: Guillermo Metz and Micaela Metz. Letters were submitted to District Secretary. • Training requests: Si. Wyatt to attend Rope Rescue Tech in Seneca County. Class begins June 13, 2025, is 24 hours long, ending date is June 21, 2025. Requesting mileage reimbursement. Si. Wyatt to attend Fire Officer II in Cortland County. Class beginning September 6, 2025, is 40 hours and ends September 15, 2025. Requesting mileage reimbursement. • HSC did annual maintenance on all HVAC units. All units passed. • Pleasant Valley will be back to continue the repairs to the lights. • 4 gas meters are in. West Danby was given theirs tonight. • 6 SCBA bottles were sent for hydro-testing. • Asked if Hale Roofing was here to check on leak in Chief’s office. Commissioner Westmiller reported Hale Roofing was here and he will follow up with to see what they found. • Part of the turn-out gear previously ordered has been received. • Red Cross would like to use the Danby station once a month for a blood drive. Commissioner Freedman moved to accept training request from Si. Wyatt to attend Rope Rescue Tech in Seneca County between June 13, 2025, and June 21, 2025. Class schedule needs to be submitted to the District Secretary. Mileage reimbursement up to $250.00. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Commissioner Freedman moved to accept training request from Si. Wyatt to attend Fire Officer II in Cortland County between September 6, 2025, through September 15, 2025, Class schedule needs to be submitted to the District Secretary. Mileage reimbursement up to $200.00. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Commissioner Westmiller moved to accept Guillermo Metz and Micaela Metz as new members pending completion of a satisfactory physical. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. COMMITTEES: PURCHASING: NONE BUILDING/GROUNDS: • Commissioner Westmiller will contact Climate Control to obtain a quote to wrap the ducts at Danby and West Danby regarding condensation. • 1st Asst. Chief K. VanEtten reported: o The apparatus door by 1401 does not close all the way. He was asked to get someone in to look at it. o Huge sink hold by sire tower (yard); cone is there now as a warning. He was asked to reach out to the Town of Danby Highway Superintendent. o Sink hole in front of bay doors, he sent a test to the Town of Danby Highway Superintendent. o Would like to get a new flagpole. Treasurer Hart already sent Chief McCray the contact information/paperwork from Danby’s new flagpole. He was asked to get quotes. o Working on getting quotes for a shed. o Chief McCray would like to change fuel companies. District owns the 1000-gallon tank on site. Would like to go from Mirabito to E&V. Discussion held. Someone other than a fire member who is employed at or who has relatives who work at E&V would have to investigate this further because of conflict of interest. Discussion held on having a whistle installed on the current tank. (tabled) o Almost done painting the interior of the station, meeting room and hallway. • Commissioner Westmiller is still collaborating with architect on specs for having floors repaired at West Danby Fire Station. GRANTS: • Commissioner Freedman reminded Chief Gaden and 1st Asst Chief K. VanEtten to send ideas to Commissioner Anderson for items she could potentially submit a grant for. • 1st Asst Chief K. VanEtten reported Chief McCray cannot find anyone to repair their gear washing machine. Discussion held on submitting a grant for 2 new washing machines, one for each station. INSURANCE: NONE TECH: NONE TRUCKS: • 1st Asst. Chief K. VanEtten reported 1443 is going to Admiral Specialty Vehicles on Thursday. • Secretary Gaden reported there was one bid opened on April 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Alexis by Bonnie Vale, Inc. in the amount of $656,634.00. Secretary Gaden emailed attorney Butler the bid package for review. One copy of the bid package was given to Commissioner Westmiller for review and 2 copies of the bid package were given to 1st Asst Chief K. VanEtten to give to the Truck Committee for review. Commissioner Freedman and Treasurer Hart will review and report at next meeting their recommendations on how the purchasing should be completed, i.e., how much from reserves and how much will need to be bonded. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. (Hydro Testing Account) Commissioner Griggs made a motion to approve up to $300.00 for the purchase of 2 pairs of boots from Fire End. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 3 yes 0 no. Quote sheet needs to be submitted.
