The minutes from the February meeting were emailed to everyone. Marie made the
motion to approve the minutes as emailed. Skip seconded the motion and all were in
favor.
Water Main break -
February 19th into February 20. Water main break at the intersection of Maple Ave and
Valley View. Initially it was hard to find due to snow piled up at the edge of the road.
Bolton Point did send a guy out with listening equipment, but the water pressure was
too low at that point to hear anything. Scott found the leak by isolating the south end
from the north end and then isolating different sections of the system while watching the
water pressure to find the area to search. The district clerk printed boil water notices
and went arou nd with Fire Dept volunteers to post them on everyone’s door. The Fire
Chief was notified, and we cleared it with him to utilize the station for handing out water.
Skip manned the station for the day. We purchased water in bottles and gallons to hand
out to residents on the system. Further discussion on ID’s, vests, radios (maybe), and
Scott having a water dept charge card. Discussion on the fact that our water dept card
did not work at Walmart. Once again we had to resort to a water board member having
to purchase items with their personal funds. Discussed using the Tompkins Co Siren
notification system and asking customers for their phone numbers and contact
information.
Operator Report -
Most was covered in the previous discussions. We pumped over 250,00 gallons over
the course of the two days.
33 Maple Ave - a relator is asking if we can find the water curb box for this property as
it has just gone on the market.
Discussed renters rights In asking for their water bill or a copy of the bill when the
original goes to the home owner. If requested, we can give a copy.
Long discussion on opportunities available to us for grants for water systems. Any that
we might qualify for would require an engineering study. Ben has offered to work with
Greg Hutnik (town Zoning) who has offered to help us apply for a grant to have an
engineering study completed.
Skip made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Marie seconded the motion, all in favor.
Next meeting is Wednesday, April 2nd at 5pm at the fire station.
Respectfully Submitted,
Marrell Cortright
Secretary/District Clerk
