Chief PUBLIC: None Call to Order Pledge of Allegiance Approval of Minutes: Preliminary minutes for October 15, 2024 public hearing for Brooktondale Contract, public hearing for Budget and Special Meeting were forwarded to the Town Clerk for posting on the Town’s website and posted on Fire District’s website on October 30, 2024. Commissioner Faehndrich moved to approve the minutes for the October 15, 2024, public hearing for Brooktondale Contract, public hearing for Budget and Special Meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Treasurer’s Report: • Bank statements reconciled. • Emailed Financial Reports to Comissioners/Secreatary/Cheifs o Balance Sheet o Profit and Loss o Equipment (100/200) o Fuel Renewal of Enhanced Cancer Insurance – Need Active /inactive firefighters Received letter for release to full duty for member. Filed with PERMA. Discussion followed Approvals Hub Langie Paving – Estimate for pavement at Danby Fire Station Invoice for Estimate $600.00 Absolute Power Washing – Hood Cleaning $900.00 (both stations) Commissioner Faehndrich moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Approval of bills: Commissioner Freedman made a motion to pay the vouchers as audited and approved on Operating Account Abstract 11-A claims 272-287 in the amount of $13,534.01 and Abstract 11-B claims 288-299 in the amount of $13,978.47. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs; Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Westmiller) • Email from Pete W, he requested permission to put up a snow plowing yard sign on the corner of Gunderman and 96B • ASFDSNY October-November newsletter • Notice Occustar moved, now in Cheektowaga NY Privilege of the Floor: NONE CHIEF’S REPORTS: DVFC: (Chief Gaden) • Written report for October was received. • New member: At Fire Company’s Business Meeting last night, Artan Isom was voted in as a probationary member, letter received from secretary. • Station usage: Shannon Sessler would like to use the station on December 14th for the Westmiller Holiday Party. • Fire Company Holiday Party on December 23rd at 6:00 p.m., Commissioners, Treasurer and West Danby Fire Chief are invited. • Training request: G. Jakubson for Pediatric Emergency Assessment (PEARS) at St. Joseph’s in Elmira on November 13, 2024, no fee except mileage reimbursement. • Training request: K. Kassam, C. Owens and T. Tucker to attend EMT class starting in January, cost is $1,250.00 per student, NY reimburses District back for a portion after member passes the course. This is to reserve their spot, classes to be held at Ithaca Mall through Upstate Medical. • Ward’s will be replacing the primer on 401 on Friday. • Hood was cleaned today • Pleasant Valley fixed outside light, ceiling lights, question on what outlets are connected to the generator. • Pleasant Valley needs to be contacted for the light over the secretary’s desk in the District Office, the ballast is not working. • The County initiated the Mutual Aid for companies to sign up to go fight the wildland fires in Orange County, our District was not selected to go. Commissioner Faehndrich moved to accept request for station usage as follows: Shannon Sessler on December 14th for Westmiller Holiday Party. Commissioner Griggs seconded; Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Faehndrich moved to accept Artan Isom as a new member pending a successful physical. Commissioner Freedman seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Faehndrich moved to accept training request for G. Jakubson to attend PEARS training at St. Joseph’s in Elmira, member will receive mileage reimbursement after course certificate and completed form 1-2 is received by the Secretary. Commissioner Westmiller seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. WDFC: (2nd Asst. Chief K. VanEtten) • Written report for October was received. • Are holding a gun raffle, drawing is Superbowl Sunday. • 1401 is back and repaired • 1421 is at Ward’s with a list of issues. Ward’s is working on a price quote to repair it. Chief McCray will email it to Commissioners upon receipt. • 1443 update is Trux Outfitters are waiting on to get cap in. Should be here in December, it is custom paint job to match the truck COMMITTEES: PURCHASING: NONE BUILDING/GROUNDS: • Commissioner Westmiller reported an outlet was added to the pavilion at West Danby • 2nd Asst. Chief K. VanEtten mentioned the pothole in front of the West Danby Station. Commissioners asked him to contact the Town Highway Superintendent. GRANTS: • Chief Gaden reported the Fire District is not on the list for the NYS Grant. • Discussion held on conservation grant. Decision made not to apply INSURANCE: • Representatives from Bailey and McNeil Agencies to discuss Cancer insurance and new MAP insurance on November 25th at 7:00 p.m. Treasurer Hart or Com. Freedman will confirm with the representatives that they are still coming on this date and time. • Discussion held on when you are covered responding to and from a call. Members should attend November 25th to ask and receive answers. TECH: NONE TRUCKS: NONE TOWN BOARD: NONE RECORDS: • Members still needing physicals were reviewed. • LENS report was read Policies: • Policy #2 Use of Fire District Building and Properties (tabled) • Policy #7 Personnel (tabled) • Policy #12 Training Policy (tabled) • 2nd Asst. Chief K. VanEtten asked if the district would consider amending the policy that all firefighters are required to have CPR certification. Discussion held. (tabled) MEMBERSHIP/TRAINING: NONE LONG RANGE PLAN: • Commissioner Freedman stated everyone received it and should review it. He asked the Chiefs to provide a personnel list by the December meeting. AUDIT: • Auditors have started the preliminary stages of the audit BUDGET: NONE OLD BUSINESS: • Commissioner Elections: one candidate filed his name tonight: Joseph Freedman of 83 Gunderman Road, Ithaca, NY 14850, seeking 5-year term. All candidates must file their name, address, what term they are seeking with the Fire District Secretary by November 20, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.. NEW BUSINESS: • Commissioner Freedman reminded everyone to be careful when writing emails and texts. • Discussion held on Organizational Meeting for 2025 Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to set the date of January 7, 2025 for the Organizational Meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. • Asst. Chief K. VanEtten reported they received notification from the Red Cross that the West Danby Fire Station is still on list of shelters. He was asked to forward that notification to the District Secretary. Discussion held on having internet because of being a shelter. Commissioner Griggs will ask County Legislator Dan Klein about the County broadband. • Asst. Chief K. VanEtten reported the West Danby Fire Department will be ringing the Salvation Army bell at Walmart on November 23rd from 11 to 2. • Asst. Chief K. VanEtten reported the West Danby Fire Department is having a scrap metal drive as a fundraiser. 11/15/24 through 12/15/24. • Commissioner Freedman reported on First Net through AT&T for first reponders. APPROVALS TRAININGS, ITEMS OR SERVICES TO BE PURCHASED: Commissioner Freedman made a motion to approve an additional $262.64 for mileage reimbursement to FF S. Sauer. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Freedman made a motion to approve the invoice received by Ward’s in the amount of $2,314.47 for the repairs to 1401. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Griggs made a motion to approve the emergency repair of 1421. Ward’s is preparing a quote and Chief McCray is to forward the said quote upon receipt to the Commissioners, Treasurer and Secretary. Motion seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to approve up to $500.00 for office supplies for the District Office. Request made by Secretary Gaden and Treasurer Hart. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to approve repair of light over District Secretary’s Desk by Pleasant Valley. Motion seconded by Commissioner Westmiller. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Faehndrich made a motion to approve up to $50.00 for the purchase of a flag for the conference room at the Danby Fire Station. Motion seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no. Commissioner Faehndrich made a motion to approve $45.00 for the cost of the renewal of Chief Gaden’s New York Fire Association’s membership. Motion seconded by Commissioner Griggs. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
