HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-05-01 x`14 . w re- May 1 , 1969 Public Hearing Proposed Changes to Zoning Ordinance A public hearing on the proposed changes to the Town of Danby Zoning Ordinance was held Thursday , May 1 , 1969 , 8 : 00 P . M . at the Town Hall . Board Members Present : Supervisor James . H . Cortright Councilman Donald C . Makie Councilman Ralph Wilbur Town Justice. . Floyd porn Town Justice Aa Francis Wright ate _: ty: Justice Court arrived late Other Present : Zoning Officer Hatfield , Planning Board Members : Mrs . Epp , 411 Mrs . Weitzel , Wendell Bryce , Joseph Short , Also Mr . and Mrs . DeMayo , Clifford and Ed Hill , Gordon Roberts , Mrs . Betty Melchen , Rick Dobson and Glenn and - " Tr Bartholf and Joseph Petricola of Autosalvage ' "'a`a" `' ' Supervisor Cortright called the hearing to order . Each person was given a printed copy of the zoning ordinance to study but to be returned - unless persons '. wish to keep a copy , give name to clerk . The town clerk read the zoning ordinance up to the appendix , Supervisor Cortright stated that Engineer Thomas Miller has not had a chance yet to draw the light industrial area and planned development area on the map . He invited persons to come up to look at map pointing out that the autosalvage ' area will begin 600 feet from the center of 96B , run along Hornbrook Road about 150 feet south of Hornbrooke -according to the information given by the Planning Boards-will be commercial . 1500 feet from the edge of the right - of=way south of Hoa g9p ed ( running 1500 feet parallel to Route 96B ) will then become a planned TigtrYct or light .industrial area , This ' area will run parallel ( beginning 150 feet from Hornbrrok ) along Hornbrook Road a distance of 500 yards to the east ®mup to where the old town dump was , approx ' mately . COMMENTS : ' DeMayo O Is distance froth highway reason for that autosalvage is not required to have a fence ? Supervisor answered that there is no - ' requirement in the zoning ordinance for a fence on a planned development area . This might be an autosalvage business or any business where capital and labor are involved . Bryce : Under the appendix , junkyards only designate auto parts and old cars - s why not ice boxes ? or whatever one might want to specialize in . Supervisor answered it might be advisable to add and clerk to note . DeMayo : Rates Danby as one of the prettiest towns in the nokl5heast ®®with Ithaca College visualizes a beautiful residential areammand would not like to see anything started to degrade the town . Supervisor added- -words of advice to the zoning officer , the appeal? board the planning board and the town board . - Roberts : Is ' it possible that a planned development or autosalvage could be held to put up a fence ? Supervisor answered he supposed so , it would take some thought and is discussion . First move would be to see the plans . Makie added once adopted the plans go to the planning . Glen Bartholf stated 5000 trees are planted 500 feet back from the road . Believes the trees will look much better than a fence . Supervisor Cortright stated recommendations will be considered and 0 adopt the zoning ordinance at the next town board meeting provided the time allowed to have the attorney change the wording and the printers4 0- the printing . - Also the map must be finished . = 3 Bryce : Hopefully these people who are still interested may look forward to starting this slimmer ? Supervisor answeredltbsolutely , no question " . Hearing adjourned at 9 : 20 P . M . The Denby Town Board met following the public hearing to review Dr . Bryce. reference to ; definition. of junkyards , page 18 of appendix . Zoning Officer - Poor definition of a junkyard . Makie ® It; is not a junkyard , it ' s an alftosalvage yard . Much better one in the old ordinance . Wilbur - May supplement be printed in the book to make this change ? Supervisor Cortright will contact Attorney Thaler on " junkyards " .
