Ronda Roaring spoke in favor of getting violations of codes resolved. Whether it’s deputizing
personnel or some other means, there are many code violations in Danby!
Ted Crane pointed out some spelling errors on the draft org chart. He’s looking forward to what is
achieved during the meeting.

4.1. Development of Town Org Chart
The main reason the town wanted to create an org chart was to be able to discuss the relationships
between the varying departments that work for the town. Town governance structure is very different
than a traditional top-down hierarchy. Because there are few instances where one person works
directly for another person, it’s difficult to put the organization on a chart.
Roles of Town Officials were discussed. The Town Supervisor has been moved into the grouping of
Town Board members, since the supervisor is in fact a member of the town board.
Discussion ensued regarding what the lines show. Are they showing a reporting relationship, a
working relationship or a budgeting/operational relationship? It was determined that any committee
that does not currently have a line, should have a line that goes to the town board. Boxes were added
for the additional positions that Laura Shawley serves in. To clarify the reporting structure, Dillon
rearranged the chart to reflect a more traditionally hierarchical depiction. Secretaries to boards were
added and the advisors were added to the line from the Town Board.

An index of the colors was added.
Clarification is needed to firm up the reporting structure of the West Danby Water District.
It was pointed out that while the lines do not represent a traditional hierarchy, it was acknowledged
that all the town employees work together for the betterment of the town.
The Organizational chart is not static and can and would be updated as needed.
