MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
February 8, 2022
Commissioner Westmiller called the regular meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Minutes: Preliminary Minutes for January 25, 2022 Organizational meeting and Regular meeting were approved and forwarded to
the Town Clerk February 7, 2022
Commissioner Westmiller moved to approve the minutes of the January 25, 2022 Organizational meeting and the January 25, 2022
Regular meeting with one revision. Motion seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Treasurer’s Report:
• Emailed Balance sheet and Profit and Loss to Secretary and Commissioners
• Fuel Report to Chiefs
• Financial report emailed to Chiefs
• Transferred $21,234.40 from CCTC Building Reserve – (Encumbered for West Danby) to TCB (formerly TCTC
To make 4th Payment to McPhersons
• Holding checks for LaFrance and Ward Apparatus (waiting on invoice for confirmation of delivery.)

Commissioner Freedman moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion seconded by Commissioner Faehdrich. Motion carried 4 yes
0 no.
APPROVAL OF BILLS:
Commissioner Freedman moved to pay the vouchers as audited and approved on Operating Account Abstract 2 claims 26-40 in the
amount of $25,989.00. Motion seconded by Commissioner Westmiller. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.

Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to allow the Tompkins County Board of Elections to use the Danby Station on June 28, 2022,
for Primary Elections from 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and November 8, 2022 for General Elections from 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with the
condition they follow all NYS mandated Covid guidelines. Commissioner Faehndrich seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to allow Danby Community Council to use the Danby Station and West Danby Station on
March 5 and April 2 (one station per date) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to allow tax advisors to help residents with tax preparation, with
the condition all NYS mandated Covid guidelines are followed. Commissioner Griggs seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
CHIEF’S REPORTS:
WDFC: (Chief Wendt)
• No written report for January.
• Still needs to do referenced check on potential new member.
• N. Dyson-Hudson requests to attend TIMS – Traffic Incident Management System training at Enfield Fire Station on March
19, 2022. No fee, no mileage being requested.
• C. Rockefeller requesting to sign up for BEFO class in Tompkins County starting March 1, 2022, and ending May 14, 2022,
no fee, will request mileage
• 1441 and 1442 will be going to Maguires for recalls
• Lights have been installed in the meeting room and hallway. Fire alarm system has not yet been installed
• Has purchase printer and ink cartridges for other printer, receipts given to Treasurer
Commissioner Westmiller moved to accept training request for N. Dyson-Hudson to attend TIMS class on 03/19/22 at Enfield Fire
Station and for C. Rockefeller to attend BEFO class in Tompkins County beginning March 1, 2022, and ending May 14, 2022.
Commissioner Faehdnrich seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
DVFC: (Chief Gaden)
• Received written report for January
• J. Forbes requests to sign up for Fire Officer I class in Tompkins County. No fee or mileage being requested.
• D. Dougherty request to sign up for BEFO class either in Tompkins County or if work schedule does not allow Tompkins, then
Tioga County. No fee or mileage if Tompkins County, may request mileage if attended in Tioga County
• 421 out for repairs
• Snowblower purchased
• Town of Danby has been doing a great job keeping parking lot plowed
• Blue Devil/Data Demon gave us a discount on annual fee/transfer to cloud
Commissioner Westmiller moved to accept training request by J. Forbes to attend Fire Officer I pending receipt of training form and D.
Dougherty to attend BEFO either in Tompkins County or Tioga County as work schedule permits pending training form. Commissioner
Faehndrich seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
COMMITTEES:
PURCHASING:
• Chief Gaden will need to purchase gloves after inventory of PPE completed February 7, 2022
BUILDING/GROUNDS:
• Commissioner Westmiller has not yet scheduled fire alarm testing at Danby Station
• Secretary Gaden will contact Absolute to get quotes for cleaning kitchen hoods at both stations
GRANTS:
• Treasurer Hart will renew SAM account
INSURANCE:
• Commissioner Freedman reported on Liability/Property Insurance that is due on March 1st. He had a lengthy telephone
conference with representatives from insurance companies. Our cost has increased by 6%. The stations and contents are
insured at replacement cost. Apparatus we need to provide bills of sale for 443 and 1441 to have them be insured at actual
replacement, at no additional cost, until they are over 5 years old
Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to approve new premium and pay invoice. Commissioner Faehndich seconded. Motion carried
4 yes 0 no.
TECH:
• Treasurer and Secretary should both accept invitation to portal from Insero in regarding to annual audit
TRUCKS: NONE
TOWN BOARD:
• Commissioner Freedman contacted Town’s bookkeeper in regard to receiving tax levy
RECORDS:
• Commissioner Griggs, Treasurer Hart and Secretary Gaden all sworn in at Town Clerk’s Office.
• Commissioner Westmiller completed commissioner training and certificate received
• Commissioner Anderson and Treasurer Hart completed Workplace and Sexual Harassment training
• Life Insurance Roster completed and sent to True Insurance
• SH-900.1 completed and posted at both stations
• Necessary updated policies posted at both stations

PRE-APPROVAL:
Motion made by Commissioner Westmiller to approve up to $2,500.00 for repair of 421 by Wards Apparatus. Seconded by
Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Motion by Commissioner Westmiller to pre-approve paying $109.55 to Ace Locksmith for repair of District storage room lock.
Seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Motion by Commissioner Westmiller to pre-approve paying Ithaca Journal $45.78 for publication of meeting dates and times.
Seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Motions by Commissioner Westmiller to pre-approve expenditure up to $350.00 for office supplies at Staples. Seconded by
Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Motion by Commissioner Westmiller to pre-approve expenditure up to $25.00 at Ace Locksmith for 2 duplicate keys to District
Office. Seconded by Commissioner Freedman. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
Motion by Commissioner Westmiller to pre-approve expenditure up to $100.00 at Lowes for ice-a-melt and driveway markers by
Chief Wendt. Seconded by Commissioner Faehndrich. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
OLD BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
• Discussion held on looking into creating a District website
Commissioner Westmiller made a motion to obtain proposals for 2022 lawn mowing at both stations. Commissioner Faehndrich
seconded. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no.
