Short term provisions to allow staff to continue providing services
Town Hall to remain closed to the public until it is deemed acceptable to reopen
Staff is encouraged to work from home whenever possible and if required to come to Town Hall,
staff shall practice all infectious disease prevention measures;
Enter the building using gloves or disinfecting wipes to grasp the door handles;
Only access areas required to perform your job such as your office, the copy room and
restrooms;
The kitchen should be avoided for the duration of the emergency;
Once in your work space wipe down your work station, phone etc.;
If you use the copier or any equipment in the copy room wipe it down prior to leaving the area
For the clerk’s office: after using shared equipment, such as the desktop, printer, and the filing
cabinets, please wipe down surfaces used with an antibacterial wipe/disinfectant spray.
Wash hands frequently. Wash them for at least 20 seconds with warm, soapy water. If water and
soap are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
If other staff are present in the building practice social distancing by maintaining a minimum of 6
feet of separation.
If you are sick, stay home.
Limit the exposure of Staff to each other by communicating with email or text as to when
someone will be at Town Hall or put in place a schedule allowing each Staff member certain
times to be in Town Hall thereby limiting accidental interaction while giving some structure to
go by and maybe lowering the stress level.
The public should be encouraged through our web site or our answering systems or phone
conversations/ emails to submit requests, applications and so on first by electronic means or
second would be regular mail and or utilizing the library drop box for larger items, drawings and
such ( only by invitation of a staff member).
Until the social distancing restrictions are eased the issuing of all hunting and fishing licenses
will be done directly through the DEC website only and marriage licenses will be suspended for
the duration of the emergency, unless there is an extreme circumstance. (Alex is checking with
other towns on this) any inquiries would be referred to a town clerk that is still issuing marriage
licenses.
When the Social distancing retractions have been eased, and prior to Town Hall fully reopening
to the public, should a member of the public need staff interaction,
(perhaps the Clerk’s office could consider any required window interactions take place by
appointment and the use one of the outside windows of the office by opening only enough to
pass papers on a clipboard through and then wiping down the clipboard after each use)
