THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF DANBY WAS HELD AUGUST 14 ,

WILL MAKE A RECOMMENDATION AT THE SEPT . BOARD MEETING . LANDSTROM LANDFIIL . A LETTER
FROM FRANK PROTO IN RESPONSE TO WEST DANDY GROUP ADVISING TOWN BOARD ON THE
CLOSURE OF LANDFILL . MET WITH MR . MASON , EXPRESSED CONCERNS AND SENT HIM SUCH IN
WRITING . RECYCLIN CONTAINERS : CORRESPONDENCE : LETTER FROM HOTCHKISS ( COORDINATOR )
INTEREST IN DROP -OFF CONTAINERS , THE TOWN IS PURSUING WHETHER TO KEEP UNDER TOWN
OR ENCOURAGE MERCHANTS TO PARTAKE IN PROGRAM . ALTERNATIVE IS THE TOWN BARNS , LOCK
AT NIGHT , BUT THAT MEANS EXTRA STOP FOR PEOPLE . CURB SIDE MORE CONVENIENPT . SOME-
THING WILL BE DONE . DANBY PRE-SCHOOL : CORRESPONDENCE WAS RECEIVED FROM DANBY FIRE
DEPT . REGARDING USE OF STATION FOR THE 89-90 SCHOOL YEARMEMBERS VOTED AT THEIR
JULY MEETING NOT TO CONTINUE USE . THIS ARRANGEMENT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AN INTERN
SOLUTION SOME TEN YRS AGO , UNTIL OTHER SPACE COULD BE LOCATED . ISSUE OF LACK OF
SPACE IN THE TOWN FOR COMMUNITY . A REPORT WAS TURN OVER TO RICH MARISA TO LOOK AT .
EMERGENCY SPACE HAS BEEN LOOKED INTO .

SERVICES IN ORDER TO GET $ 5 , 600 . PUT ON THE EMERGENCY SERVICES TRAINING AT TC3 THIS
YEAR . ITS GOOD NEWS FOR THE FIRE CO . AIRPORT TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT APPROACHING
$ 9- 10 MILLION RANGE . MOVED TO THE PRIORITY LIST TO GET DISCRETIONARY MONEY FROM FAA .
ASSURES WE WILL BE CONSIDERED . READING ROOM: ROOM INSPECTED , AND WILL MEET WITH FLA
TO DISCUSS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE . AN EAGLE SCOUT HAS OFFERED TO HELP WITH THE ROOM
TO ACHIEVE A COMMUNITY SERVICES AWARD . COMPREHENSIVE YOU : TABLED TILL SEPT . WE ARE
PUTTING TOGETHER PROPOSAL TO TAKE OVER THE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR YOUTH . $ 750 , 000 .
ASSIGNED COUNCIL PROGRAM : AND LEGAL DEFENSE . SCOPING DONE ON THE P . D . OFFICE AND IT
WAS $ 750 . 000 . THE ASSIGNED COUNCIL GROUP CAME UP WITH A PROPOSAL FOR $ 540 . 000 AND
ALSO THE STATE HAS PASSED ONTO THE COUNTY ; THE PAROLE RESPONSIBILITY . STATE TRYING TO
SAVE HONEY . I RECOMMEND THAT LARRY PALMER BE ASSIGNED TO THE COUNTY PAROLE BOARD . HE
IS A LAWYER AND DANBY RESIDENT . WE DISCUSSED AT THE PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
MEETING , THE COUNTY TAKING ON A PARKS SYSTEM . OUR SALES TAX # ' S FOR FIVE YRS LOOK
GOOD . DANBY ' S SHARE HAS GONE UP , ASKED THE COUNTY TO LOOK INTO GRANTS ADMINISTRATOR .
BETTER HOUSING GRANT : PROPOSAL TO PLANNING COMM . FOR BETTER HOUSING FOR TOMPKINS CO .
ASKED FOR GRANT OF $ 10 , 000 . TO REHABILITATE 4 -6 HOUSES . COUNTY RECYCLING : WE KEEP
REFINING THE GUIDE LINES TO REMIND PEOPLE WHAT ' S ACCEPTABLE AND NOT . COPIES 'BEING
SENT TO TOWNS . ( ITEMS LISTED FOR INFORMAL PURPOSES ) . TIPPING FEES : /LANDFILL : GOING TO
INTRODUCE NEW FEE FOR LANDFILL USE . $ 40/TON EFFECTIVE ONE YR BEGINNING 1 - 1 -90 FOR
GARBAGE , NOT RECYCLABLES .
MARTY LUSTER : IDEA OF COORDINATING HUMAN SERVICES ACTIVITIES , WAS SUBJECT FOR
LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES THIS YEAR . A BILL THAT ESTABLISHES A FUND OF $ 10QQ00 . FOR
PILOT PROJECTS AROUND THE STATE SO HUMAN SERVICES CAN HAVE JOINT ADMINISTRATION FOR
RELATED ACTIVITIES , SUCH AS YOUTH , ALCOHOLIC AND DRUG COUNCILING UNDER ONE ROOF .
ANOTHER BILL THAT PASSED WAS , SCHOOL BUSES RIDE BACK ROADS , AND PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR
OR AT A DISTRICT :BUILDING WOULD BE ABLE TO RIDE THE BUS WITH KIDS . ADVANTAGE WOULD
BE THE BEHAVIOR OF KIDS ON THE :BUS , FEB' . T(3 RIDE . INCREASED REPRESENTATION ON BOARDS
FROM RURAL AREAS FOR HOME CARE SERVICES & PUBLIC HEALTH COUNCIL THAT ADVISE THE
GOVERNOR , RURAL HAIL CARRIERS , SEAT BELTS , BILL PASSED DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR SEAT BELTS .
LUSTER ALSO HAS LIST OF GRANT FROM PRIVATE & GOVERNMENT . TOWNS CAN RUN THEIR NEEDS
THRU HIM IF NEEDED . HOUSING : MONEY RELATIVELY SECURE , TRUST FUND IS SET . DIETRICH
( SOMETIME IN SEPT ) WOULD LIKE MEETING WITH TOWN ON WHAT KINDS OF HOUSING DANBY WOULD
LIKE TO SEE . SENIOR ISSUES : LUSTER REPORTED PAUL HARINGBURG ( COMMISSION ON AGING )
COMING TO ITHACA OCTOBER AROUND THE 27TH .
PUBLIC : UNIDENTIFIED PERSON SPOKE ABOUT THE DANBY MOTOR DEVELOPMENT LEAVING THE FIRE
STATION AND REPORTED HE DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT . THOUGHT THEY SHOULD BE
ABLE TO STAY TILL THEY FOUND MORE SPACE AND THIS PERSON FELT DIDNOT MAKE ANY SENSE
FOR THE :BUILDING TO SIT EMPTY ALL DAY LONG . DIETRICH SAID THERE WILL BE FURTHER DIS-
CUSSION LATER . RIC DOBSON TALKED ABOUT REPAIRS TO THE TOWN HALL .

BAD TIMING . TOWN NEXT TO US HAS NO MOBILE HOMES ORDINANCE , BUT TRYING TO PASS ONE .

NANCY WEITZEL SAYS SENIORS ARE NOW REALIZING THAT , WHERE DO WE GO NOW THAT OUR
LARGE HOME ARE TOO MUCH FOR US TO MAINTAIN .

ATION AND SOME PEOPLE FELT TRAILERS WERE ONLY ALTERATIVE TO THEIR INCOME . MORE

COUNTY YOUTH : NOTHING , BUT DIETRICH ASKED FOR UPDATE FROM RICH MARISA ON THE DANBY
PRE —K : AT THE YOUTH MEETING HELD HERE , ISSUE WAS THE NEED FOR SPACE FOR PROGRAMS
HERE IN! : DANBY AND THE NEED FOR SPACE FOR THE CURRENT PRE_K PROGRAM . FIRST TASK WAS
