The Edge Network Controller supports two doors and provides four general purpose inputs and two general purpose outputs. The built-in Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) capability eliminates the need for a separate electric power supply and can substantially reduce installation cost per door. Alternatively a local power supply can be used. The Edge Network Controller contains all of the distributed intelligence and advanced features of any Symmetry Access Control System including AES 256 bit data encryption. The cost effective EN-1DBC+ is supplied in a small tamper monitored polycarbonate enclosure which will normally be installed on the wall on the secure side of the door. The new AMAG readers address that trend with a secure and cost effective solution for any Symmetry user. The Symmetry Blue reader range combines Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with conventional card reading capabilities for integrated access control. The Symmetry Blue readers work with Symmetry Apps for Android and iOS using suitable smart phones. They also read either NXP MIFARE and DESFire smart cards or 125khz proximity cards depending on the model selected. The readers are designed to work with AMAG Symmetry software, and any Symmetry door controllers which support an industry standard wiegand interface. The Symmetry Apps are free of charge and do not require a license. Enrollment of smart phones with the Symmetry system is straightforward and does not require a separate portal or third party subscription. Users can be provided with either a card, the app on their smart phone or both. The smart phone is recorded within Symmetry as a separate credential and can share the same access rights as a card. Enrollment is either through USB encoder or by input of device ID which is viewable through the app. Symmetry Blue readers can be installed in place of an existing card reader or alongside it for situations where existing card technology is not being changed.
