Ductwork shall be sealed at all transverse joints and longitudinal connections, including ductwork connections at drywall or other finishes, using UL-181 compliant methods and materials. Mastic or other UL-181 compliant material to be applied within temperature range and according to all manufacturers requirements.7. Ductwork penetrating the building envelope shall be sealed to prevent air leakage through the duct system and/or the building envelope. This includes but is not limited to roof curbs and exterior wall exhaust/intake vents.8. Any ventilation systems that have self-regulating airflow devices installed must be tested to confirm pressure is within manufacturers allowable range. Fan speeds shall be reduced in order to provided required pressure and airflow at all self-regulating airflow devices, with the lowest fan speed possible.9. Provide 3' custom roof curb for ERV -3 and 4; Provide 2' roof curb for ERV-1 and 2.B. MOTOR NOTES:1. All 3PH motors 1HP or greater must be NEMA Premium Efficiency rated. 2. All motors shall be tested and balanced (with the system manufacturer’s representative if necessary) and a balancing report submitted to the Owner’s Energy Consultant. 3. The installation contractor and/or system manufacturer shall conduct an on‐site training with building maintenance staff to review the operating parameters, controls, and maintenance requirements of the motors and drives.C. HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM NOTES:1. All heating/cooling piping must be inspected by the Owner’s Energy Consultant before access is covered up.2. The heating and cooling system shall be tested and balanced, including all applicable Functional Performance Test checklists, by the installation contractor to demonstrate the system is installed and functioning according to the specifications in the contract documents. A summary of the commissioningresults verifying that the heating/cooling systems performs and functions according to the specifications in the contract documents must be provided to the Owner’s Energy Consultant3. The installation contractor and/or system manufacturer shall conduct an on-site training with building maintenance staff to review the operating parameters, controls, and maintenance requirements of the heating and cooling systems.4. Heat pump installation contract must be an approved Participating Contractor for the NYS Clean Heat Program and must submit for incentives on behalf of the owner.5. Provide 1" thick pipe insulation (conductivity 0.21-0.28) on all refrigerant piping. All exterior piping insulation shall be UV resistant, have continuous insulation, and be installed inside PVC line-hide.6. All exterior refrigerant pipe insulation shall be continuous and UV resistant.7. For all forced air systems, the ductwork must be sealed with mastic or other UL‐181 compliant material and applied within temperature range and according to all other manufacturer's requirements at ALL transverse joints, transitional junctions, and take offs.8. Heating supply and return ductwork shall be insulated as per 2020 Energy Conservation Code of New York State C403.11.19. The gap between the heating/cooling ductwork and gypsum board must be air sealed.10. For all heat pump and split system air condition systems, provide start up report including pre-charge refrigerant amount and corrected refrigerant charge amount for each system. Obtain and keep documentation on file showing correct field measured refrigerant charge for all refrigerant based heating/cooling systems and pipe lengths.11. For all refrigerant based systems, perform Triple Leak and Pressure Test as per manufacturer’s instruction including checking all connections for leaks by applying a bubble solution to all joints or by using an electronic leak detector. Document the locations of any leaks found and fix leaks with new materials and retest as per manufacturer’s instructions until satisfactory results are achieved. Once Leak and Pressure Test is completed perform Triple Evacuation Procedure as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the system has been properly evacuated confirm the necessity of additional Refrigerant Trim Charge as per the manufacturer’s instructions and engineering documents. Document any refrigerant added for each unit and final refrigerant charge. If there are joints between the indoor and outdoor units other than at the units, document on as built drawings including piping riser diagram so that the joint can be located post-construction. Provide documentation for the above testing including the name of the person performing the test, day/time, results of any leaks that needed to be fixed. Notify Engineer and Owner’s Energy Consultant at least 48 hours prior to performing leak testing.12. The installation contractor and/or system manufacturer shall conduct an on‐site training with building maintenance staff to review the operating parameters, controls, and maintenance requirements of all heating and cooling systems.13. Flexible Ductwork -If flexible ductwork is to be used, the Owner’s Energy Consultant must be notified and have a chance to review shop drawings prior to purchase. If installed, flexible ductwork should be limited in length, and meet the requirements listed below, which will be inspected by Owner’s Energy Consultant: •Duct length -Limit duct length to no more than 25’per run for flex duct, not to exceed the manufacturer’s recommended limit.•Excess ductwork -Runs should be as direct as possible. Excess ductwork should be no more than 5% for any given section of flexible duct. Flexductwork shall be extended (stretched) and secured to reduce pressure drop. •Supports -Suspended horizontal ducts should be supported at least every 5’.•Hangers -Hanger material should be at least 1-1/2”in width and hangers should not crimp the ductwork, causing the interior dimension of the duct to be less than specified.•Sag -Suspended ductwork should be allowed to sag no more than ½”for every 1’of run•Trunk and boot connections -Flexible duct should be allowed to run straight out of any connection at least 12”before taking a turn14. Bends -The radius at the centerline of a bend must be a minimum of one duct diameter as shown in the diagram (R = 1 duct diameter)15. Connections -Connections to boots, collars, and trunks must be substantially airtight16. Sealants -Sealants and tapes used to make ductwork airtight must be compliant with UL-181 standards and installed according to the manufacturer’s specificationsA. HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS-DUCTED HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS:1.During unoccupied periods as determined by 7 day programmable thermostat, the system shall be set back to adjustable setpointtemperatures.2.During occupied periods as determined by 7 day programmable thermostat, the system shall respond to setpoint temperatures. Each fan coil shall have a thermostat for heating and cooling setpoints. The unit shall remain on until setpoint is reached. 3.The heat pump system is to be the primary heating/cooling system to reach setpoint temperatures. A.In heating mode, the thermostat shall call for heat from the fan coil/heat pump and they shall remain on until satisfying setpoint temperature. If the space temperature cannot be satisfied and the temperature drops 3 degrees below setpoint temperature, the 2nd stage heat 24 Volt DC output shall energize the electric resistance heat relays and the heat pump stays on. The electric heat will be provided by a duct heater for ducted units. B.In cooling mode, the thermostat shall call for cooling from the fan coil/heat pump and they shall remain on until satisfying setpoint temperature. In cooling mode, the electric resistance heat shall be locked out. -DUCTLESS HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS:1.During unoccupied periods as determined by 7 day programmable thermostat, the system shall be set back to adjustable setpointtemperatures.2.During occupied periods as determined by 7 day programmable thermostat, the system shall respond to setpoint temperatures.
