ANY REFERENCE TO "HOOD" OR "FUME HOOD" IN THIS SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS
REFERS TO THE 4' ADA FUME HOOD AND NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE (3)
EXHAUSTED ENCLOSURES THAT ARE CONNECTED TO THE PROCESS EXHAUST VALVE
(EAV-330-3)
ALL SETPOINTS SHALL BE ADJUSTABLE.
LABORATORY AIR CHANGE RATES ARE BASED ON TOTAL EXHAUST AIR FLOW FROM THE
SPACE.
THIS LABORATORY IS CURRENTLY SERVED BY AN EXISTING AUTOMATED LOGIC
CONTROL SYSTEM. EXISTING POINTS ARE TO BE RE-UTILIZED FOR THE NEW SEQUENCE
OF OPERATION WHERE FEASIBLE.
THE BASIS OF DESIGN MAXIMUM AIRFLOWS ARE DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN A 100 FPM FACE
VELOCITY AT THE FUME HOOD. HOWEVER, IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO OPERATE THE FUME
HOOD WITH A FACE VELOCITY OF 80 FPM. THIS WILL BE DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF
FUME HOOD CERTIFICATION. THE BACS CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING
ON-SITE DURING FUME HOOD CERTIFICATION, AND RE-PROGRAM AS NEEDED TO RESET
THE AIRFLOW SETPOINTS BASED ON THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS.
SETPOINTS
SPACE TEMPERATURE SETPOINTS:
OCCUPIED:WINTER 70 °F, SUMMER 75°F +/-1.5 °F
OCCUPIED SETBACK:WINTER 70 °F, SUMMER 75°F +/-3 °F
UNOCCUPIED:WINTER 70 °F, SUMMER 75°F +/-6 °F
AIRFLOW SETPOINTS ARE DETAILED IN THE AIRFLOW SCHEDULE, SEE M-501.
LABORATORY AIRFLOW CONTROL
AIR VALVE POSITIONS SHALL BE BASED ON MODE. UNDER NORMAL CONTROL, ROOM
OCCUPANCY SHALL BE DETERMINED VIA ROOM OCCUPANCY SENSORS.
WHEN THE ROOM IS OCCUPIED, THE BACS SHALL SEND AN OCCUPIED COMMAND TO THE
FUME HOOD MONITOR. THE FUME HOOD EXHAUST AIR VALVE SHALL MODULATE
BETWEEN THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM POSITIONS AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THE FACE
VELOCITY SETPOINT BASED ON THE SASH POSITION. THE SUPPLY AIR VALVE, SAV-330
AND THE PROCESS EXHAUST VALVE, VAV-330-3 SHALL MAINTAIN CONSTANT VOLUME
WITH A 745 CFM DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE TWO AT ALL TIMES. THE GENERAL
EXHAUST VALVE, EAV-330-2, SHALL MODULATE AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE AT
100 CFM NEGATIVE.
WHEN THE ROOM IS UNOCCUPIED, AND THE SASHES ARE AT OR BELOW 18-INCHES, THE
BACS SHALL SEND AN UNOCCUPIED COMMAND TO THE FUME HOOD MONITORS. THE
FUME HOOD EXHAUST AIR VALVES SHALL MODULATE BETWEEN MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM
UNOCCUPIED POSITIONS AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A 65 FPM FACE VELOCITY SETPOINT
BASED ON THE SASH POSITION. THE GENERAL EXHAUST VALVE, EAV-330-2, SHALL
MODULATE AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE AT 100 CFM NEGATIVE.
WHEN THE ROOM IS UNOCCUPIED AND THE FUME HOOD SASH IS ABOVE 18-INCHES, THE
BACS SHALL NOT SEND THE SPACE UNOCCUPIED COMMAND TO THE FUME HOOD
EXHAUST AIR VALVE. WHEN THE FUME HOOD EXHAUST AIR VALVE SASH IS ABOVE 18-
INCHES IT SHALL MAINTAIN THE OCCUPIED SASH OPEN AIRFLOW SETPOINT. THE BACS
WILL SEND THE UNOCCUPIED COMMAND TO THE FUME HOOD WHEN THE SASH IS AT OR
BELOW 18-INCHES AND THE FUME HOOD EXHAUST AIR VALVE SHALL MODULATE TO
MAINTAIN A 65 FPM FACE VELOCITY SETPOINT. THE SUPPLY AIR VALVE SHALL MODULATE
AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE AT 100 CM NEGATIVE.
LASER EXHAUST AIRFLOW CONTROL
LAB USER SHALL ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE POWER TO THE LASER WITH THE MANUAL
WALL SWITCH. WHEN THE BACS DETECTS THE LASER IS ENGAGED, THE LASER EXHAUST
VALVE (VAV-330-4) SHALL OPEN AND THE LASER FAN UNIT SHALL RECEIVE A LOW
VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE BACS TO THE REMOTE ON/OFF INTERFACE PROVIDED WITH
THE FAN UNIT THAT WILL ENGAGE THE LASER FAN. THE LASER FAN WILL PROVE FLOW
AND SEND A SIGNAL TO THE BACS TO ENGAGE POWER TO THE LASER. WHEN THE LASER
IS ENGAGED, THE LASER EXHAUST VALVE IS OPEN AND THE LASER FAN IS ENGAGED.
WHEN THE LASER IS NOT ENGAGED, THE LASER EXHAUST VALVE IS CLOSED AND THE
FAN REMAINS DISENGAGED. IF THE LASER FAN DOES NOT PROVE FLOW, THE POWER TO
THE LASER DOES NOT ENGAGE. WHEN THE VENTILATION SHUT-OFF SWITCH IS
ENGAGED, THE POWER TO THE LASER IS DISENGAGED, THE LASER FAN DISENGAGES
AND VAV-330-4 CLOSES. LASER EXHAUST VALVE SHALL MAINTAIN A CONSTANT VOLUME
EXHAUST OF 350 CFM WHEN THE LASER AND FAN ARE ENGAGED AND THE GENERAL
EXHAUST VALVE SHALL MODULATE TO MAINTAIN THE ROOM WITH A NEGATIVE
DIFFERENTIAL.
ZONE TEMPERATURE CONTROL
TEMPERATURE SETPOINTS SHALL BE DETERMINED BASED ON A COMBINATION OF
PROGRAMMED SCHEDULE AND SPACE OCCUPANCY SENSORS.
OCCUPIED HEATING: IF THE SPACE IS OCCUPIED DURING THE SCHEDULED OCCUPIED
PERIOD AND THE SPACE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW THE OCCUPIED HEATING
TEMPERATURE SETPOINT, THE SUPPLY AIR REHEAT CONTROL VALVE (CV-330-RH) SHALL
MODULATE TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE TEMPERATURE SETPOINT. WHEN THE SPACE
TEMPERATURE IS AT SETPOINT, THE BASEBOARD RADIATION AND REHEAT COIL
CONTROL VALVES SHALL BE CLOSED.
OCCUPIED SETBACK: IF THE SPACE BECOMES UNOCCUPIED DURING THE SCHEDULED
OCCUPIED PERIOD, THE ABOVE OCCUPIED HEATING SEQUENCE SHALL APPLY, BUT THE
SPACE SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT THE OCCUPIED SETBACK TEMPERATURE SETPOINT.
UNOCCUPIED HEATING: IF THE SPACE IS UNOCCUPIED DURING THE SCHEDULED
UNOCCUPIED PERIOD AND THE SPACE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW THE UNOCCUPIED
HEATING TEMPERATURE SETPOINT, THE SUPPLY AIR REHEAT COIL CONTROL VALVE
(CV-330-RH) SHALL MODULATE AS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN SETPOINT.
COOLING: THERE ARE NO COOLING MODE SEQUENCES REQUIRED FOR THIS SPACE.
LAB VENTILATION SHUTOFF CONTROL
THE LAB VENTILATION SHUTOFF CONTROL SWITCH IS MOUNTED OUTSIDE OF THE 330
LAB NEXT TO THE DOOR AS SHOWN ON PLAN. WHEN THIS SWITCH IS ENGAGED, ALL
SUPPLY AND EXHAUST AIR VALVES THAT SERVE LAB 330 SHUT CLOSED AND THE LASER
FAN AND THE POWER TO THE LASER IS DISENGAGED. AN ALARM SHALL BE GENERATED
AT THE USER WORKSTATION. RESET OF THE AIRFLOW, LASER FAN AND LASER POWER
TO NORMAL OPERATION SHALL BE MANUALLY ENGAGED AT THE USER WORKSTATION.
