HomeMy WebLinkAboutAddendum 1CORNELL UNIVERSITY PHASE 5 - LOW RISE 6 FACILITIES CONTRACTS INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS 121 HUMPHREYS SERVICE BUILDING ITHACA, NEW YORK 14853-3701 ADDENDUM NO. 1 January 15, 2020 This Addendum contains changes to the requirements of the Contract Documents and Specifications. Such changes are to be incorporated into the Construction Documents and shall apply to the work with the same meaning and force as if they had been included in the original document. Wherever this Addendum modifies a portion of a paragraph of the specifications or a portion of any Drawing, the remainder of the Paragraph or Drawing shall remain in force. NOTE: Provisions of all Contract Documents apply.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Item 1. Section 01 11 00, Paragraph 1.1.A ADD 7. Provide all electrical work for connecting new ceiling mounted exit signage to existing exit signage power feeds. 8. Provide all necessary electrical work to temporarily suspend or disconnect existing ceiling mounted electrical devices to accommodate ceiling removals. Reconnect and reset devices after ceiling is installed. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Item 2. Section 02 82 00, Paragraph 3.1.K REMOVE, the following “…RHD rooms.” at end of paragraph. ADD, the following to subparagraph 1: Refer to Plans LR6-A100 through A103, LR6-A002 Detail 6 TYPICAL CONTROL JOINT and DOOR SCHEDULE, and LR6-A003 DOOR DETAILS for quantity determinations of wallboard removal for each door. ADD, the following to subparagraph 2: Refer to LR6-A103 Demolition Plans, LR6-A104 Details 4 and 5 for quantity determinations of stud wall and ceiling board removals.

Item 3. Section 02 82 00, Paragraph 3.1.N
ADD Mastic is located on the interior side of the existing bi-parting dumbwaiter doors. It is determined from the Asbestos Pre-Renovation Survey report that approximately 132 s.f. of mastic exists. It is preferred to remove the mastic while doors remain in place. If it is determined by Contractor, removal of doors and re-installation is an acceptable method of mastic abatement. DRAWINGS Item 4. Drawing LR6-HM100, Asbestos Abatement Notes and Legend DELETE AR5.A in its entirety.
REPLACE with A. Removal of dumbwaiter door mastic to existing metal door substrate. Item 7. Drawing LR6-HM101, Keyed Asbestos Abatement Note
DELETE AR5.C in its entirety. REPLACE with C. Removal of dumbwaiter interior shaft wallboard joint compound – Completely remove joint compound by cutting top layer of existing gypsum wallboard along the outer reaches of the ACM joint compound. Replace removed portion of wallboard with 5/8” type X fire rated gypsum wallboard and provide a Level 1 joint compound finish (no painting required). Approximately 600 l.f. of 6” wide strips of ACM joint compound. Select photos of joint compound are attached for Contractor’s reference. Item 8. Drawing LR6-HM101, Asbestos Abatement Keyed Notes and Legend DELETE Note AR6 in its entirety. Item 9. Drawing LR6-A104, Detail 5 Title DELETE STAIR SECTION
REPLACE with CEILING/WALL SECTION Item 10. Drawing LR6-A002, Door Schedule, Keyed Notes DELETE “Patch Terrazzo Floor Where Pivot” in its entirety for Door 6200SA. The existing door has butt hinges. DELETE NOTE 3 for Door 6100CC.
REPLACE with Patch and grout existing slab and quarry tile at pivot hinge removal. DELETE NOTE 3 for Door 6203. REPLACE with Patch and grout existing slab and 2 x 2 ceramic tile at pivot hinge removal.

Item 11. Drawing LR6-A103, Keyed Renovation Note R7
DELETE in its entirety. REPLACE with Patch flooring finish with new carpet. Use product and manufacturer used by the Owner for this flooring. Coordinate with the CU Facility Manager for product #’s. If flooring is outdated, use a matching color/pattern approved by the Owner. Item 12. Attached is the PreBid Sign-in Sheet for Contractor’s reference only. Item 13. No. The documents indicate a double-layer of fire-
rated gypsum wallboard across the stud to fire protect
joint.

Please provide clarification to the floor patching required, ie
materials, where pivot hinges are shown to be removed. On
LR6- A002 door keyed note 2, 3. There is mention of Terrazzo Patching, this is expensive, and will require a spec.

9 LR6-A103
Note R7 on LR6-A103 says to salvage carpet and re-install at
exposed floor slab. The existing carpet is glued down and will
be destroyed during removal. Please clarify

The Door Schedule on LR6-A002 indicates a Head H9 and
Jamb J9 for openiong 6400CJ, however these are not shown
with the head and jamb details.

Is Schindler Elevator being hired by Cornell or is it the
contractors responsibility.

Details 1,2/A104 and 1,2/A300 mention "Top of Wall
Firestopping Material", what is the material? I cannot find a spec on it.
CLARIFICATION, Top-of-wall firestopping can be
found in Section 07 84 00, paragraph 2.03 Fill Materials. Depending on the size of the gap between
the top-of-wall and bottom of deck, use any
combination of these products from the
manufacturer’s listed.
13 General Do you have photos of the inside of the Dumbwaiter Shafts?See Addendum No. 1, Item 6.
14 LR6-A300 Details 1 & 2

See Section 1 – from the Ground Floor to Level 1 / 2 there is
a 4” projection into the Dumbwaiter Shaft.
What is this projection?
Metal studs & gypsum?
CLARIFICATION, Hatched areas along dumbwaiter
shaft walls are not projections from that wall but
elevations of the cross wall beyond. The interior
corner of the intersection of the two shaft shall
requires existing fiberglass insulation be removed and
replaced with firestopping fill material.
