THE HOOD CONTROL PANEL IS CAPABLE OF OPERATING IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING STATES AT ANY GIVEN TIME:
-AUTOMATIC: THE SYSTEM OPERATES BASED ON THE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN ROOM TEMPERATURE AND THE TEMPERATURE AT THE HOOD CAVITY OR EXHAUST DUCT COLLAR.
FANS ACTIVATE AT A CONFIGURABLE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL THRESHOLD. THE FAN CAN BE CONFIGURED AS STATIC OR DYNAMIC. THESE TERMS REFER TO WHETHER THE VARIABLE
MOTOR MODULATES WITH TEMPERATURE.
IF THE ZONE IS DEFINED AS "DYNAMIC", THESE WILL MODULATE WITHIN A USER-DEFINED RANGE BASED ON THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL.
IF THE FAN ZONE IS DEFINED AS "STATIC", FANS WILL RUN AT A SET SPEED CALCULATED FOR THE DRIVE.
DEMAND CONTROL VENTILATION MODES:
-MANUAL: THE SYSTEM OPERATES BASED ON HUMAN INPUT FROM THE HOOD CONTROL INTERFACE.
-SCHEDULE: A WEEKLY SCHEDULE CAN BE SET TO RUN FANS FOR A SPECIFIED PERIOD THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THERE ARE THREE OCCUPIED TIMES PER DAY TO ALLOW FOR THE USER
TO SET UP A TIME THAT IS SUITABLE TO THEIR NEEDS. ANY TIME THAT IS WITHIN THE DEFINED OCCUPIED TIME, THE SYSTEM WILL RUN AT MODULATION MODE AND FOLLOW THE FAN
PROCEDURE ALGORITHM BASED ON TEMPERATURE DURING THIS TIME. DURING UNOCCUPIED TIME, THE SYSTEM WILL HAVE AN EXTRA OFFSET TO PREVENT UNINTENDED ACTIVATION OF
THE SYSTEM DURING A TIME WHERE THE SYSTEM IS NOT BEING OCCUPIED.
-OTHER: THE SYSTEM OPERATES BASED ON THE INPUT FROM AN EXTERNAL SOURCE (DDC, BMS OR HARD-WIRED INTERLOCK). THIS SYSTEM WILL NOT BE CONNECTED TO A DDC SYSTEM
AT THIS POINT BUT WILL BE CAPABLE IN THE FUTURE.
AN LCD INTERFACE SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
A. ON/OFF PUSH BUTTON FAN & LIGHT SWITCH ACTIVATION
C. VFD FAULT DISPLAY WITH AUDIBLE & VISUAL ALARM NOTIFICATION
D. DUCT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAILURE DETECTION WITH AUDIBLE & VISUAL ALARM NOTIFICATION
E. MIS-WIRED DUCT TEMPERATURE SENSOR DETECTION WITH AUDIBLE & VISUAL ALARM NOTIFICATION
F. A SINGLE LOW VOLTAGE CAT-5 RJ45 WIRING CONNECTION
G. AN ENERGY SAVINGS INDICATOR THAT UTILIZES MEASURED KWH FROM THE VFDS

7) PERFORM A LIGHT TEST, OF THE ENTIRE GREASE DUCT SYSTEM, PRIOR TO WRAPPING THE GREASE DUCTWORK WITH R-6 INSULATION.
6) GREASE DUCTWORK LOCATED IN THE ATTIC SHALL BE WRAPPED WITH INSULATION TO PRESERVE THE COLD ATTIC DESIGN.
EXCESS SEALANT EXTRUDED INTO THE DUCTWORK WHEN THE V-BANDS ARE TIGHTENED.
5) AFTER THE V-BANDS HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED, REMOVE ANY EXCESS SEALANT ON THE INSIDE JOINTS OF THE GREASE DUCT. THE INSIDE SURFACE OF THE GREASE DUCT SHALL BE SMOOTH, VOID OF ANY
4) INSTALL PER MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS.
3M FIRE BARRIER 2000+. THE DUCT WALL ASSEMBLY SHALL BE TESTED AND LISTED AT 3/4” CLEARANCE FROM COMBUSTIBLES.
THE GREASE DUCT SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE BLANKET INSULATION BETWEEN THE INNER AND OUTER WALL. GREASE DUCT JOINTS SHALL BE HELD TOGETHER BY MEANS OF FORMED V CLAMPS AND SEALED WITH
THE INNER DUCT WALL SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF .036 INCH-THICK, 430 STAINLESS STEEL. THE OUTER WALL SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF STAINLESS STEEL AT A MINIMUM OF .024 INCH-THICKNESS.
3) CONSTRUCTION: THE DUCT SECTIONS SHALL CONSIST OF AN INNER DUCT WALL AND AN OUTER WALL WITH INSULATION IN BETWEEN.
2) CLASSIFICATIONS: PRODUCTS SHALL BE ETL LISTED TO UL-1978 AND UL-2221 FOR VENTING AIR AND GREASE VAPORS FROM COMMERCIAL COOKING OPERATIONS. ALL COMPONENTS SHALL CONFORM TO NFPA-96.
1) GREASE DUCTWORK SHALL BE A PRE-MANUFACTURED SYSTEM SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR USE WITH TYPE 1 KITCHEN EXHAUST HOODS.
GREASE DUCTWORK: (PRE-PURCHASED WITH KITCHEN EXHAUST FAN, HOOD, AND MAKE UP AIR UNIT)
TYPE A INSULATION: MINERAL FIBERGLASS BLANKET, ASTM C553 TYPE I, ASTM C1136 TYPE I FACTORY APPLIED FSK JACKET, K-VALUE BETWEEN 0.22 - 0.29 BTU-IN/HR-FT²-˚F @ 75 ˚F, 0.75 PCF
12) ALL INSULATION AND ADHESIVE SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM FLAME-SPREAD INDEX OF 25 AND A MAXIMUM SMOKE-DEVELOPED INDEX OF 50 WHEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM E84.
11) LEAK TESTING OF DUCTWORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SMACNA'S HVAC AIR DUCT LEAKAGE TEST MANUAL.
10) REMOVE SURFACE CONTAMINANTS AND DEPOSITS FROM DUCTWORK AND EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO TESTING AND BALANCING.
9) INSTALL VOLUME DAMPERS AT POINTS IN THE DUCT SYSTEMS WHERE BRANCHES EXTEND FROM LARGER DUCTS.
8) CONNECTION TO DIFFUSERS/GRILLES SHALL BE MADE WITH HARD CONNECTIONS, FLEX DUCTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
7) ACCESS DOORS SHALL BE GALVANIZED SHEETMETAL WITH INSULATION FILL AND THICKNESS AS INDICATED FOR DUCT PRESSURE CLASS. ACCESS DOORS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: BOTH SIDES OF
DUCT COILS, ADJACENT TO FIRE/SMOKE DAMPERS IN ORDER TO RESET OR REINSTALL FUSIBLE LINKS, AND AS INDICATED.
6) ALL MANUAL BALANCING DAMPERS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH LOCKING HAND QUADRANT.
5) SEALANTS AND GASKETS: SURFACE BURNING CHARACTERISTICS SHALL BE A MAXIMUM FLAME-SPREAD INDEX OF 25, AND MAXIMUM SMOKE-DEVELOPED INDEX OF 50 WHEN TESTED TO UL 723.
4) INCREASE DUCT SIZES GRADUALLY, AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH FIGURE 4-7 OF SMACNA'S HVAC DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS - METAL AND FLEXIBLE. BRANCH CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MADE WITH A 45 DEGREE ENTRY.
STRAIGHT TEES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
3) WHERE RECTANGULAR ELBOWS ARE USED, PROVIDE AIR FOIL TYPE TURNING VANES.
2) CONSTRUCT TEES, BENDS, AND ELBOWS WITH RADIUS OF NOT LESS THAN 1.0 TIMES THE WIDTH OF DUCT ON CENTER LINES.
1) ALL DUCTWORK AND ACCESSORIES SHALL BE FABRICATED AND INSTALLED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LATEST ISSUE OF SMACNA'S HVAC DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS - METAL AND FLEXIBLE.

THAT MUST BE REPAIRED. REPAIR LEAKS AND DEFECTS WITH NEW MATERIALS AND RETEST PIPING UNTIL SATISFACTORY RESULTS ARE OBTAINED.
