steel equipment platform reusing existing supply/return ductwork locations.
Notes/Scope Clarifications
1. [071-HVC-022] [12.12.2019] Response required by: Wegmans
Both existing AC-1 and AC-2 units have existing heat reclaim (glycol) coils served by adjacent powerhouses which is
not shown on current HVAC drawings. Wegmans maintenance (Rich C.) indicated this store has had problems with
the heat reclaim system and that it is no longer utilized. EA will proceed designing the new replacement units without
heat reclaim coils and removing existing piping back to existing 3-way valves located in each powerhouse. Please
confirm Wegmans prefers not to include heat reclaim coils with the replacement AC-1 and AC-2 units per
previous remodels.
(M. Beare)
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: P&J is in the process of repairing the existing Heat Reclaim Coils at Ithaca.
Provide glycol heat reclaim coils in the new AC-1 and AC-2. (T. Burke)
2. [071-HVC-022] [12.12.2019] Response required by: Wegmans
Engineering note #10 on the PPS document indicates “Night setback is not required – store is 24/7”. EA and
Seasons4 recommends including night setback dampers for future implementation. EA will proceed with designing
the new units with the capability to provide night setback for the future, but not include initial programming unless
directed otherwise.
(M. Beare)
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: Include night setback dampers and controls for future implementation. (T.
Burke)
3. [071-HVC-022] [12.12.2019] Response required by: Wegmans
All existing exhaust fan equipment has been documented during EA’s 11/22 site visit. There were several exhaust
fans mislabeled on the roof according to EA’s current drawings. A few previous remodel projects added rooftop
equipment that is not included in the TAB report dated September 2016. EA will proceed with sizing the new AC-1 and
AC-2 units to provide 4,000 CFM store pressurization using the scheduled exhaust CFM quantities (not the TAB report)
per previous remodels unless directed otherwise.
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: Based on your site visit, update the drawings and schedules. Use the updated
schedules for the HVAC design. (T. Burke)
4. [071-HVC-022] [12.12.2019] Response required by: ME Engineering
Approximate locations of existing duct smoke detectors are shown on photo (IMG_3461.JPG) from EA’s field report
that will need to be removed from the ductwork. EA will proceed with adding the following note on our schedule
drawing: “Provide factory installed duct smoke detectors in both supply / return airways and fan shut down
control. Factory provided remote test stations shall be field installed.”

AC-1 has walkways only on one side and the back of the unit. New walkway designs should be coordinated with the
owner to provide access for all doors on the new unit once preliminary air handling unit cutsheets are received from
the manufacturer.
(M. Beare)
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: Provide walkways to access all doors on the new HVAC units. (T. Burke)
6. [071-HVC-022] [12.12.2019] Response required by: Wegmans/Bergmann/HSE
AC-2 has walkways surrounding the unit. It is assumed additional walkway will not to be required for AC-2.
(M. Beare)
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: Based on the existing walkways surround AC-2, additional walkways are not
required. (T. Burke)

Architectural note #4 on the PPS document indicates “Coordinate color of unit with Wegmans”. Both existing AC-1
and AC-2 units are Seasons4 units and appear to have a “Mocha Bronze” finish (refer to the field report dated
12/03/19). Please confirm Wegmans prefers the new AC-1 and AC-2 units to be provided with the factory
finish color of “Mocha Bronze” per the color chart below.
(M. Beare)
Optional Factory Finish Colors:
Wegmans Response [01.06.2020]: Specify the factory color of “Mocha Bronze” for AC-1 and AC-2. (T. Burke)
