3.01 RACEWAYS
1. ELECTRICAL METALLIC TUBING (EMT) SHALL BE USED FOR INTERIOR,
CONCEALED WORK.
2. SURFACE METALLIC RACEWAY SHALL BE USED FOR ALL INTERIOR, EXPOSED
WORK.
3. USE FLEXIBLE METALLIC CONDUIT FOR ALL FINAL CONCEALED CONNECTIONS TO
THE FUME HOODS.
4. A SEPARATE EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTOR SHALL BE INSTALLED IN
ALL FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS.
5. PAINT ALL EXPOSED RACEWAYS TO MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES. COORDINATE
PAINT SELECTION WITH OWNER.
3.02 WIRES AND CABLES
1. HANDLE WIRE AND CABLE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ABRASING, PUNCTURING OR
TEARING WIRE AND CABLE INSULATION AND SHEATHING. ENSURE THAT
DIELECTRIC RESISTANCE INTEGRITY IS MAINTAINED.
2. PROVIDE FACTORY FABRICATED METALLIC AND NON-METALLIC CONNECTORS
OF SIZED, RATINGS, MATERIALS, TYPES AND CLASSED AS REQUIRED FOR EACH
SERVICE. PROVIDE PROPER SELECTION AS DETERMINED BY THE INSTALLER TO
COMPLY WITH INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS AND NEC STANDARDS. SOLDER
AND TAPE CONNECTIONS ARE PROHIBITED.
3. WIRES AND CABLES SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED UNTIL THE RACEWAY SYSTEM
INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
4. BRANCH CIRCUIT AND FEEDER CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS COLOR CODING SHALL
BE AS FOLLOWS:
a. 208/120 VOLT CIRCUITS
- PHASE CONDUCTORS - BLACK, RED, BLUE
- NEUTRAL CONDUCTOR - WHITE OR GRAY
3.03 WIRING DEVICES
1. COORDINATE WITH OTHER WORK, INCLUDING PAINTING, ELECTRICAL BOX AND
WIRING WORK, AS NECESSARY TO INTERFACE INSTALLATION OF WIRING DEVICES WITH
OTHER WORK.
2. INSTALL WIRING DEVICES ONLY IN ELECTRICAL BOXES WHICH ARE CLEAN,
FREE FROM EXCESS BUILDING MATERIALS, DIRT AND DEBRIS.
3. PROVIDE ELECTRICALLY CONTINUOUS, TIGHT GROUNDING CONNECTIONS FOR WIRING
DEVICES, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
4. PRIOR TO ENERGIZING CIRCUITRY, TEST WIRING DEVICES FOR ELECTRICAL
CONTINUITY AND PROPER POLARITY CONNECTIONS. AFTER ENERGIZING CIRCUITRY,
TEST WIRING DEVICES TO DEMONSTRATE COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS.
3.04 IDENTIFICATION
1. CABLE / CONDUCTOR IDENTIFICATION
a. APPLY IDENTIFICATION ON EACH CABLE / CONDUCTOR, IN EACH
BOX / ENCLOSURE / CABINET WHERE WIRES OF MORE THAN ONE
CIRCUIT OR SYSTEM ARE PRESENT.
2. EQUIPMENT / SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION
a. PROVIDE SELF ADHESIVE PLASTIC SIGNS ON EACH MAJOR UNITS OF ELECTRICAL
EQUIPMENT. PROVIDE TEXT MATCHING EXISTING STYLES AND SIZES. WHERE
APPLICABLE, LABEL SHALL INCLUDE ELECTRICAL FEED SOURCE (PANEL -
CIRCUIT NUMBER).
b. UNITS THAT RECEIVE IDENTIFICATION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED
TO, THE FOLLOWING:
1. WIRING DEVICES
c. PROVIDE ADHESIVE FILM LABEL TO WIRING DEVICES INDICATING SOURCE PANEL
AND CIRCUIT NUMBER (1LP24C-2)
3. PANELBOARDS
a. PROVIDE TYPE WRITTEN PANEL SCHEDULES ON THE INSIDE OF ALL PANELBOARDS
REFLECTING THE AS-BUILT CIRCUIT ASSIGNMENTS.
3.05 RECORD DRAWINGS
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE RED LINE DRAWINGS AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT
INDICATING FINAL DEVICE LOCATIONS, DEVICE LABELS AND CIRCUIT ROUTING.

ADDENDUM NO. 1
April 30, 2014
This Addendum contains changes to the requirements of the Contract Documents and Specifications.
Such changes are to be incorporated into the Construction Documents and shall apply to the work with
the same meaning and force as if they had been included in the original document. Wherever this
Addendum modifies a portion of a paragraph of the specifications or a portion of any Drawing, the
remainder of the Paragraph or Drawing shall remain in force.
NOTE: Provisions of all Contract Documents apply.
Item 1 Delete entire bid set.
Replace with attached signed and stamped drawing set dated April 15, 2014.
The attached drawings are being issued to include the stamp and seal of the Architect of
Record in accordance with requirements of the Authority Having Jurisdiction. There
have been no other changes to the originally issued version.
Item 2 Asbestos Survey Report
Add Limited Pre-Renovation Asbestos Survey Report Olin Hall (Building 2024) For the
Room 208 Lab Modifications Project to the bid document package.
Item 3 RFI – 1
“Keyed note 3 on A100 says that painting is by Owner. Note 6 on the same drawing is
specific enough to make it seem as though the painting is by the General Contractor.
Please clarify the intended scope of work here.”
Response: “All painting shall be by the contractor, no painting shall be performed by
owner. Painting scope is entire room as noted in key note 6. On floor plan remove
reference to "Limit of painting (painting by owner)".”
