ADDENDUM NO. 1
May 16, 2019
This Addendum contains changes to the requirements of the Contract Documents and Specifications.
Such changes are to be incorporated into the Construction Documents and shall apply to the work with
the same meaning and force as if they had been included in the original document. Wherever this
Addendum modifies a portion of a paragraph of the specifications or a portion of any Drawing, the
remainder of the Paragraph or Drawing shall remain in force.
NOTE: Provisions of all Contract Documents apply.

1.CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY LOCATION AND SIZES OF ALL EXISTING

2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE LAWNS, DRIVEWAYS,
WALKWAYS, CATCH BASINS, SIGNS AND OTHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
PROPERTY DAMAGED OR REMOVED TO AT LEAST AS GOOD A
CONDITION AS BEFORE BEING DISTURBED
3.ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH ALL
APPLICABLE NATIONAL, STATE, AND LOCAL CODES, STANDARDS,
ORDINANCES, RULES AND REGULATIONS. SPECIFIC ATTENTION
SHALL BE PAID TO ADA & ANSI ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS.
4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN IN PLACE ALL BURIED UTILITIES
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PIPES, DRAINAGE CULVERTS, AND
UNDERGROUND TELEPHONE, GAS AND ELECTRIC UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED ON THE PLANS, AND SHALL ASSUME ALL COSTS AND
EXPENSES FOR DAMAGES CAUSED DURING CONSTRUCTION. UNLESS
OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, ANY AND ALL DAMAGES SHALL BE
REPAIRED WITH THE SAME OR BETTER MATERIALS, AT THE
CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.
5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES EXERCISE CAUTION IN HIS
OPERATIONS AND PROVIDE FOR THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF
ALL PERSONS ON OR ABOUT THE SITE. ALL PROVISIONS OF JOB
SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS AS REQUIRED BY THE
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (OSHA) AND
NYS DEPT. OF LABOR SHALL BE OBSERVED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
6.MISCELLANEOUS WORK NOT SPECIFICALLY SHOWN ON THE
CONTRACT DRAWINGS SUCH AS PATCHING, BLOCKING, TRIMMING,
ETC. SHALL BE PERFORMED AS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE WORK
COMPLETE.
7.CONTRACTOR'S OPTION:
7.1.REUSE OF THE CORNELL OWNED BALLASTED FENCING
CURRENTLY ON THE ROOF IS PERMITTED FOR THE
CONTRACTORS USE FOR PATH OF EGRESS ON THE TERRACE.
7.2.CORNELL WILL PICKUP FENCING FROM SITE AFTER COMPLETION
OF THE PROJECT, OR IF NOT USED AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF
THE PROJECT.
7.3.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING THE
RAILINGS FROM UNREASONABLE DAMAGE.
8.ALL NOISY WORK, INCLUDING STONE ROOF BALLAST REMOVAL (IF
VACUUM TRUCKS ARE UTILIZED) ARE TO BE COMPLETED ON
WEEKEND DAYS ONLY, OR COMPLETED PRIOR TO 8AM ON
WEEKDAYS. CONTRACTOR TO TURN OVER STONE BALLAST TO
CORNELL UNIVERSITY AT PALM ROAD LOCATION. VERIFY EXACT
LOCATION AND DELIVERY TIME WITH OWNER REPRESENTATIVE.
9.TEMPORARY EXITS SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH CORNELL AND
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY. NO EXIT SHALL BE CLOSED
WITHOUT 48 HOURS NOTICE AND CORNELL APPROVAL.
10.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN TEMPORARY WAY
FINDING AND CONSTRUCTION SIGNAGE FOR THE DURATION OF THE
PROJECT. COORDINATE WITH OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE.
1.SITE PLAN INFORMATION IS BASED ON RECORD INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE CAMPUS. NOT ALL
EXISTING UTILITIES, TREES, LANDSCAPING, SIDEWALKS AND PAVEMENTS, EQUIPMENT, FIXTURES AND
TOPOGRAPHIC INFORMATION MAY BE SHOWN. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY AND FAMILIARIZE
THEMSELVES WITH THESE CONDITIONS.
2.THE BUILDING WILL BE OCCUPIED DURING THE WORK. EGRESS PATHWAYS SHALL REMAIN UNOBSTRUCTED
DURING THE WORK. PROVIDE OVERHEAD PROTECTION AT INGRESS/ EGRESS DOORS, ENTRANCES AND
EXIT DOORS IN THE VICINITY OF THE WORK AREA. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR THE DURATION
OF THE WORK:
A.APPROPRIATE OVERHEAD SCAFFOLDING/BRIDGING FOR OCCUPANTS ENTERING AND EXITING THE BUILDING
TO PROTECT FROM FALLING DEBRIS DURING THE WORK. SUCH SCAFFOLDING MAY ALSO DOUBLE FOR
CONTRACTOR ACCESS TO THE WORK. OVERHEAD PROTECTION/SCAFFOLDING DESIGN MUST BE PREPARED
AND SIGNED BY A LICENSED NYS PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER. SUBMIT FOR OWNER/ARCHITECT REVIEW.
STRUCTURE TO SPAN OVER PAVERS AND NOT REST ON PAVERS.
B.CONSTRUCT SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH IBC CHAPTER 33 OF THE 2017 NYS UNIFORM BUILDING & FIRE
CODE, AND OSHA STANDARDS. PROVIDE BARRIERS TO PROTECT SYSTEMS FROM IMPACT FROM VEHICLES.
TEMPORARILY ATTACH TO THE BUILDING. PATCH MASONRY AFTER REMOVALS.
C.POST SIGNAGE INDICATING ROOF CONSTRUCTION WORK ABOVE. PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION LIGHTING AT
DOOR LOCATIONS, EGRESS AND PUBLIC WALKWAYS, 10FC MIN. MAINTAIN PATHWAYS AND LIGHTNING FOR
THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.
D.COORDINATE THIS WORK WITH THE CAMPUS REPRESENTATIVE.
3.CONTRACTOR SHALL BARRICADE IN THE FORM OF A 6'-0" HIGH CHAIN LINK FENCE AROUND THE
PERIMETER OF THE LAYOUT AREAS SHOWN AT A MINIMUM AND 8'-0" AT STAGING AREA, AND AROUND THE
CONTRACT LIMIT LINES TO PREVENT PUBLIC ACCESS TO AREAS UNDER GOING WORK. THE FENCE SHALL
HAVE A 12' WIDE LOCKABLE DOUBLE GATE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO PROVIDE TEMPORARY FENCING
AROUND ANY EXCAVATIONS DURING THE WORK.
3.1.CONTRACTORS OPTION: THE CONTRACTOR MAY REUSE THE EXISTING STEEL BARRICADES ON THE
TERRACE ROOFING FOR TEMPORARY BARRIERS AT THE TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION PATH OF EGRESS
FOR THE DURATION OF THIS PROJECT. AT THE END OF THE PROJECT, CORNELL WILL TAKE POSSESSION
OF BARRIERS.
4.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SITE REPAIRS IN ACCORDANCE WITH DIVISION 1 - GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS
5.CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE WATERTIGHT DAILY TERMINATIONS FOR THE WORK, INCLUDING
EMERGENCY 24 HOUR/7DAY - 1 HOUR RESPONSE SERVICE FOR ROOF LEAKS, UNTIL PROJECT
COMPLETION.
6.ROOFING CONTRACTOR WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE ROOF FROM INSIDE THE BUILDING. CONTRACTOR
SHALL PROVIDE, AT CONTRACTOR'S OPTION, A SCAFFOLDING STAIR TO ACCESS THE ROOF DURING
CONSTRUCTION. THIS ACCESS WILL BE WITHIN THE CONTRACT LIMIT LINES AND BE LOCKED WHEN NOT IN
USE. ALL SCAFFOLDING SHALL BE LOCKED FOR ACCESS AT THE END OF EACH DAY. CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE BARRIER AROUND SCAFFOLDING
7.CONSTRUCTION HOURS SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE UNIVERSITY; CITY NOISE ORDINANCE IS 7:30AM
TO 10:00PM.
8.TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES MUST BE COORDINATED WITH THE CAMPUS 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CLOSURE.
MAINTAIN ROAD ACCESS WIDTH IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND STATE REGULATIONS, BUT NOT LESS
THAN 14'-0" WIDE.
9.CONTRACTOR PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE ON SITE; OFF SITE PARKING IS AVAILABLE. COORDINATE WITH
THE UNIVERSITY.
