SAFETY: IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SOLELY AND COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDITIONS OF THE JOB SITE, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY AT ALL TIMES. SCOPE OF WORK: PROVIDE ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT (EXCEPT THOSE ITEMS SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS OR ON THE DRAWINGS AS BEING FURNISHED BY OWNER OR OTHERS), LABOR AND INCIDENTALS REQUIRED FOR THE ELECTRICAL WORK AS INDICATED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS AND DRAWINGS, AND AS REQUIRED TO MAKE A COMPLETE AND OPERATING INSTALLATION TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER. FURNISH COMPETENT SUPERVISION OF THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED AT ALL TIMES DURING PROGRESS OF THE WORK. THE WORK INCLUDES (BUT IS NOT NECESSARILY LIMITED TO) THE FOLLOWING: ALL REQUIRED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR SERVICE, FEEDERS AND BRANCH CIRCUIT WIRING FOR LIGHTING AND POWER. EMERGENCY SYSTEM WIRING AND COMPONENTS. GROUNDING. CONDUITS AND FITTINGS. PULL BOXES AND JUNCTION BOXES. MOTOR SWITCHES AND DISCONNECTS CONNECTION AND COORDINATION FOR MOTOR CONTROLLERS. LIGHTING FIXTURES. WIRING DEVICES. SENSORS, WIRING, CONDUIT FOR CONTROLS AND APPLICABLE TO ELECTRICAL CONTRACT ONLY. WIRING, CONDUIT, AND CONNECTIONS TO EQUIPMENT THAT MAY BE PROVIDED UNDER ANOTHER DIVISION OF THESE SPECIFICATIONS THAT ARE INCLUDED IN CONTRACT FOR ELECTRICAL WORK. WIRING, AND CONNECTING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT THAT IS TO BE FURNISHED BY THE OWNER. ELECTRICAL WORK INCIDENTAL TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MECHANICAL SYSTEM. FIRE ALARM SYSTEM VVHERE APPLICABLE TO ELECTRICAL CONTRACT. RACEWAY AND CABLING FOR DATA SYSTEMS. TEMPORARY WIRING AS REQUIRED FOR OTHER BUILDING FUNCTIONS DURING PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRICAL WORK. TESTING OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND WIRING. DRAWINGS: THE DRAWINGS SHALL SERVE TO INDICATE THE GENERAL LAYOUT OF THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT. HOWEVER, LAYOUT OF ANY EQUIPMENT, ACCESSORIES, SPECIALTIES, WIREWAYS, AND CONDUIT SYSTEMS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC UNLESS SPECIFICALLY DIMENSIONED, AND DO NOT NECESSARILY INDICATE EVERY REQUIRED FITTING, JUNCTION BOX, PULL BOX, OR SIMILAR ITEMS REQUIRED FOR THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION. JOB CONDITIONS: CAREFULLY INVESTIGATE STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS, WALL, FURRING AND CHASE LOCATIONS, AND ROOM FINISHES AND MAKE ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS ON THE JOB SO THAT ALL EQUIPMENT SUCH AS PANELBOARDS, SWITCHES, RECEPTACLES, LIGHTING FIXTURES, FIRE ALARM DEVICES AND ACCESSORIES SHALL FIT. PRACTICAL CONSIDERATION SHALL BE GIVEN TO COORDINATION OF ALL VISIBLE DEVICES WITH AESTHETIC AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ELEMENTS. OBTAIN FROM THE OWNER A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF TRAINING AND REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR WORKING ON THIS SITE. VERIFY ALL MEASUREMENTS AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CORRECTNESS OF SAME BEFORE ORDERING ANY MATERIALS OR DOING ANY WORK. NO EXTRA CHARGE OR COMPENSATION WILL BE ALLOWED BECAUSE OF ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS AND THOSE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. ANY RELEVANT DIFFERENCE WHICH MIGHT BE DISCOVERED BY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER FOR CONSIDERATION BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK. LAW AND PERMITS: THE LATEST PUBLISHED REGULATIONS OF THE STATE AND LOCAL BUILDING CODES, NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA), OSHA (REGARDING CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES) AND NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, WITH THE LATEST TENTATIVE INTERIM AMENDMENTS, SHALL BE CONSIDERED AS INCLUDED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS, AND ALL APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE FULLY COMPLIED WITH. QUESTIONS REGARDING INTERPRETATION SHALL BE ADDRESSED TO THE PROJECT ARCHITECT. APPLY FOR PERMITS, LICENSES AND INSPECTION CERTIFICATES AND PAY ALL FEES INCIDENTAL TO THE ELECTRICAL WORK. GIVE NOTICE TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES IN AMPLE TIME FOR THE WORK TO BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED AS IT PROGRESSES, AND CONCEAL NO WORK UNTIL APPROVED BY THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS HAVING JURISDICTION. THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AND ALL STATE AND LOCAL RULINGS SHALL BE OBSERVED AND SHALL GOVERN THE CHARACTER OF THIS WORK. SHOULD THE DRAWINGS OR THESE SPECIFICATIONS IN ANY WAY CONFLICT WITH THE CODE, STATE OR LOCAL RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS, PROMPTLY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER IN WRITING IN ORDER THAT NECESSARY CHANGES CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY APPROPRIATE MODIFICATION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO ELECTRICAL WORK AT THIS SITE. UPON COMPLETION OOF THEINSTALLATION, A CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL FROM THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DEPARTMENT HAVING JURISDICTION THEREON SHALL BE FURNISHED TO THE OWNER, PRIOR TO FINAL PAYMENT, AND ALL FEES SHALL BE PAID BY THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. PROVIDE TESTING AND RECORDS OF COMPLETION FOR ALL FIRE ALARM MODIFICATIONS AND HIGH VOLTAGE CONNECTIONS. THE CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION SHALL NOT RELEASE THE CONTRACTOR FROM ANY GUARANTEE OF WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS SET FORTH IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS. GUARANTEE: ALL MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP SHALL BE GUARANTEED FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROJECT AS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS, OR WHEN BENEFICIALLY USED BY THE OWNER, WHICHEVER FIRST OCCURS AS CERTIFIED BY THE PROJECT ARCHITECT. DEFECTS DUE TO FAULTY MATERIALS, METHODS OF INSTALLATION OR WORKMANSHIP SHALL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED PROMPTLY WITH THE LEAST INCONVENIENCE AND WITHOUT EXPENSE TO THE OWNER, DURING THE HOURS AND IN A TIME FRAME AS DESIGNATED BY THE ENGINEER. THIS GUARANTEE IS AN ADDITION TO ANY SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE GUARANTEES CALLED FOR IN THE INDIVIDUAL PARAGRAPHS. SUBMIT REQUIRED COPIES OF ALL WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES FOR SYSTEMS, EQUIPMENT, DEVICES AND MATERIALS (THIS INCLUDES COPIES FOR MAINTENANCE MANUALS). SUBMITTAL AND SHOP DRAWINGS: SUBMIT FOR REVIEW ALL REQUESTED PRODUCT DATA, SHOP DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES. SUBMIT REQUIRED COPIES OF ALL CUTS, CATALOGUES, BULLETINS, DIAGRAMS, CURVES, ETC. TRADE NAMES, MANUFACTURERS, AND CATALOG NUMBERS ARE MENTIONED HEREIN AND ON THE DRAWINGS SOLELY IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH A STANDARD FOR THE TYPE, GENERAL DESIGN, AND QUALITY OF PRODUCT REQUIRED. OTHER PRODUCTS SIMILAR IN DESIGN OF EQUAL QUALITY CAPABLE OF FITTING WITHIN THE SPACES ALLOCATED AND COMPLYING WITH THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. DIMENSIONAL DATA AND WEIGHTS SHALL BE INCLUDED. CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW SUBMITTALS AND SHOP DRAWINGS BEFORE FORWARDING THEM TO PROJECT ARCHITECT. SUBMITTALS AND DRAWINGS WILL BE RETURNED AFTER REVIEW INDICATING WHETHER OR NOT EXCEPTIONS ARE TAKEN AND THE REQUIRED PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED THEREAFTER. RESUBMISSION OF REVISED SUBMITTALS AND SHOP DRAWINGS IS REQUIRED BEFORE CONSTRUCTION STARTS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN CONTRACT OR ON RETURNED SUBMITTALS. CORRECTIONS OR COMMENT'S MADE ON THE SUBMI I IALS AND DRAWINGS DURING THIS REVIEW DO NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS. THIS REVIEW IS FOR GENERAL CONFORMANCE WITH THE DESIGN CONCEPT OF THE PROJECT AND GENERAL COMPLIANCE WITH THE INFORMATION GIVEN IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONFIRMING AND CORRELATING ALL QUANTITIES AND DIMENSIONS, SELECTING FABRICATION PROCESSES AND TECHNIQUES OF CONSTRUCTION. THE PRODUCTS LISTED BELOW SHALL BE SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW AFTER THE AWARD OF THE CONTRACT AND BEFORE ANY EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS ARE PURCHASED. IF A PRODUCT IS UNACCEPTABLE, ANOTHER PRODUCT SHALL BE SUBMITTED. PROVIDE SUBMITTALS FOR THE FOLLOWING WHERE INCLUDED IN ELECTRICAL CONTRACT: LIGHTING FIXTURES AND LAMPS WIRING DEVICES AND DEVICE PLATES TRANSFORMERS SWITCHGEAR AND CONNECTING BUS WHERE APPLICABLE PANELBOARDS CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR PANELBOARDS ENCLOSED SWITCHES AND DISCONNECTS FUSES ETHERNET CABLE SENSORS AND TRANSMITTERS FIRE ALARM DEVICES INCLUDED IN WORK ELECTRICAL IDENTIFICATION: PROVIDE LAMINATED IDENTIFICATION PLATES FOR MAJOR ITEMS OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND AS REQUIRED BY ELECTRICAL CONTRACT AND INCLUDE: ENCLOSED SWITCHES, CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND DISCONNECTS SWITCHBOARDS AND PANELBOARDS STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS: THE WORK UNDER THIS DIVISION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE LATEST EDITION OF THE APPLICABLE STANDARDS AND CODES OF THE FOLLOWING: UL - UNDERWRITER'S LABORATORIES, INC. NEMA - NATIONAL ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION NEC NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, NFPA 70 STATE AND LOCAL CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS ANSI - AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARDS INSTITUTE NFPA NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION INCLUDE ALL ITEMS OF LABOR AND MATERIALS REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH SUCH STANDARDS AND CODES. WHERE QUANTITIES, SIZES OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS, OR HEREIN SPECIFIED ARE IN EXCESS OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARDS AND CODES, THE SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR DRAWINGS SHALL GOVERN. RECORD DRAWINGS: UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT, FURNISH A COMPLETE SET OF REPRODUCIBLE DRAWINGS WHICH WILL INCLUDE ALL REVISIONS, SKETCHES, ETC., WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN REQUIRED DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MARK THESE DRAWINGS TO INDICATE EXACT, AS INSTALLED CONDITIONS. THE AS -INSTALLED CONDITIONS SHALL REFLECT ANY CHANGES IN EQUIPMENT LOCATION OR ROUTING WHICH DID NOT FOLLOW THAT SHOWN ON THE CONTRACT DRAWINGS AND CHANGES IN CONDUIT AND/OR WIRING SIZES. DURING COURSE OF THE INSTALLATION, CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A SEPARATE SET OF DRAWINGS FOR MARKING AND NOTING ALL INSTALLATION DEVIATIONS. THIS SET OF DRAWINGS SHALL BE MAINTAINED CONTINUOUSLY, AND SHALL BE USED FOR NO OTHER PURPOSE THAN INDICATING AS -INSTALLED CONDITIONS. PART 2 - PRODUCTS: MATERIALS: UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW AND UNUSED AND SHALL BE LISTED BY UNDERWRITERS' LABORATORIES, INC., FOR THE SERVICE INTENDED, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN CONTRACT. COMPATIBILITY: PROVIDE PRODUCTS WHICH ARE COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS OF THE ELECTRICAL WORK, AND WITH OTHER WORK REQUIRING INTERFACE WITH THE ELECTRICAL WORK, INCLUDING ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND CONTROL DEVICES. FOR EXPOSED ELECTRICAL WORK, COORDINATE COLORS AND FINISHES WITH OTHER WORK. DETERMINE IN ADVANCE OF PURCHASE THAT EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS PROPOSED FOR INSTALLATION WILL FIT LEAVING ADEQUATE CLEARANCE AS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE CODES, AND FOR ADJUSTMENT, REPAIR, OR REPLACEMENT. THE NAMEPLATE OF DISTRIBUTING AGENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE. NEMA CODE RATINGS, OR OTHER DATA WHICH ARE DIE -STAMPED INTO THE SURFACE OF THE EQUIPMENT SHALL BE STAMPED IN AN EASILY VISIBLE LOCATION. PRODUCT, DELIVER, STORAGE, AND HANDLING: ENSURE THAT ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, AND MATERIALS ARRIVE AT THE SITE IN GOOD CONDITION, INTACT IN FACTORY PACKAGE OR CRATE. ANY EQUIPMENT FOUND TO BE DAMAGED SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE PROJECT SITE. HAVE PERSONNEL ON-SITE TO RECEIVE SHIPMENTS. DO NOT USE OWNER'S EMPLOYEES TO ACCEPT SHIPMENTS. STORE AND PROTECT FROM DAMAGE ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, AND MATERIALS IN FACTORY CONTAINERS OR PACKAGE UNTIL READY FOR USE. STORAGE FACILITY SHALL BE A CLEAN, DRY, INDOOR SPACE WHICH PROVIDES PROTECTION AGAINST WEATHER. AVOID DAMAGE BY CONDENSATION BY PROVIDING TEMPORARY HEATING WHEN REQUIRED. BOXES: BOXES SHALL BE OF STANDARD SIZES SUITABLE FOR THE USE INTENDED. USE CAST FS BOXES IN DAMP OR WET AREAS. GALVANIZED STAMPED BOXES MAY BE USED IN GENERAL AREAS INSIDE. WALL OUTLETS FOR SWITCHES, RECEPTACLES, ETC., SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR DEVICE WITH APPROPRIATE DEVICE RING FOR THE APPLICATION. BOXES OUTDOOR, WHERE REQUIRED, SHALL BE CAST FS TYPE, WITH WEATHERPROOF COVER. GROUNDING: GROUND CONDUITS, BOXES, MOTOR FRAMES, FIXTURE BODIES AND RECEPTACLE GROUND TERMINALS. MAINTAIN GROUND CONTINUITY THROUGH CONDUITS. PROVIDE SEPARATE GROUND CONDUCTORS IN CIRCUITS. ENCLOSED SWITCHES AND DISCONNECTS: HD NEMA 1 INDOORS IN DRY LOCATIONS AND NEMA 3R FOR EXTERIOR OR DAMP/WET AREAS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AS MANUFACTURED BY SQ. D, CUTLER HAMMER/EATON, GENERAL ELECTRIC, OR ITE. WIRING DEVICES: EXCEPT AS NOTED OTHERWISE SWITCHES SHALL BE 20 AMP, 120/277 VOLT SILENT TYPE, SINGLE POLE, OR THREE WAY AS REQUIRED; RECEPTACLES SHALL BE DUPLEX, GROUNDING TYPE, 20 AMPERE, 125 VOLT, 3 WIRE. FINISHES FOR WALL SWITCHES AND WALL RECEPTACLES: FINISHES FOR ALL RECEPTACLES AND SWITCHES AND SIMILAR EXPOSED DEVICES SHALL BE COLOR COORDINATED TO MATCH WALL FINISH- IVORY, BROWN, OR STAINLESS. LIGHTING FIXTURES: UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL LIGHTING FIXTURES SHALL BE NEW. FURNISH ALL REQUIRED EQUIPMENT, ACCESSORIES, MOUNTING HARDWARE AND LAMPS.
