ADDENDUM NO. 1
June 13, 2017
This Addendum contains changes to the requirements of the Contract Documents and Specifications. Such
changes are to be incorporated into the Construction Documents and shall apply to the work with the same
meaning and force as if they had been included in the original document. Wherever this Addendum
modifies a portion of a paragraph of the specifications or a portion of any Drawing, the remainder of the
Paragraph or Drawing shall remain in force.
NOTE: Provisions of all Contract Documents apply.

Can a crane be used to remove coping stones?Yes, short duration use of a crane can be arranged
with Cornell Transportation and building
management team. This could require early morning
lifts/picks (before 8AM) depending on building
activities. Crane plans must be reviewed by Cornell
Environmental Health & Safety. See

Is a building permit required?Yes. See General Requirement, 01 41 00. A City of
Ithaca building permit is required. Contractor is
responsible for obtaining and paying for permit.

Is slate replacement part of project scope?No, however existing slate will need to be removed to
install new flashings at the coping stone. Existing
slate will need to be re-installed. Existing slates
appear in good condition after survey by Cornell.
Contractor shall take precautions to protect and
inventory slate during removal to prevent damage.
Small quantities of attic stock slate will be available
by Owner if a slate becomes damaged through no
fault of the Contractor.

Provide sources of bluestone/llenroc.See possible firms below:
- Endless Mountain Stone (Susquehanna, PA).
- Johnston & Rhodes (East Branch, NY)
- Sonny & Sons Stone (Downsville, NY).
Visual match of new stone to existing is very critical.
Please engage quarry during bid phase to ensure
closest color match.
