HomeMy WebLinkAboutAddendum 1 2019-04-30 CORNELL UNIVERSITY STUDENT AND CAMPUS LIFE FACILITIES CONTRACTS MULTIPLE DEFICIENCIES CODE REMEDIATION 121 HUMPHREYS SERVICE BUILDING PHASE 1A ITHACA, NEW YORK 14853-3701 CLARA DICKSON ADDENDUM NO. 1 April 30, 2019 This Addendum contains changes to the requirements of the Contract Documents and Specifications. Such changes are to be incorporated into the Construction Documents and shall apply to the work with the same meaning and force as if they had been included in the original document. Wherever this Addendum modifies a portion of a paragraph of the specifications or a portion of any Drawing, the remainder of the Paragraph or Drawing shall remain in force. NOTE: Provisions of all Contract Documents apply. Item 1. Section 05 01 70.61 Decorative Metal Repair, paragraph 3.02, add subparagraph C as follows: C. Install new newel caps at existing newel posts where missing. For bidding purposes, use 5% of the total amount of existing newel posts of stair railings being modified. Item 2. Section 01 14 00 Work Restrictions, paragraph 1.2, add subparagraph L as follows: L. The building will be occupied during construction and work will go on one stair at a time. Item 3. Section 01 14 00 Work Restrictions, paragraph 1.2, add subparagraph M as follows: M. Each stair as it is shut down shall be used as a laydown area for its own material. If material for other stairs is completed for delivery prior to stair being ready for shutdown then the Contractor shall provide means to store materials indoors off site. Item 4. Section 05 52 13 Pipe and Tube Railings, paragraph 2.7A, add subparagraph 4 as follows: 4. All exterior railings to receive galvanizing with a powder coat top finish. Item 5. Section 05 52 13 Pipe and Tube Railings, paragraph 2.7C, revise as follows: C. Non-galvanized steel railing shall receive a powder coat finish. Item 6. Section 05 52 13 Pipe and Tube Railings, paragraph 2.7, revise subparagraph F and add subparagraph G as follows: F. Powder Coating Galvanized and Non-galvanized Steel: 1. The minimum film thickness shall be 5.0 mils for powder coating, only. 2. There shall be no more than one pinhole per five square feet tested using a 67.5 volt wet sponge detector. 3. Minimum adhesion using ASTM D 3359 shall be 5A, 5B (100% crosshatch). 4. Dry film hardness as per ASTM D 3363 shall be at least 2H or greater. 5. Salt spray: According to ASTM B 117, +1000 hrs< 2mm. G. Factory Powder Coat Application: 1. The surface shall be prepared in accordance with ASTM D 7803-12, Process for Cleaning and Preparing Hot Dipped Galvanized Iron and Steel for Powder Coating. 2. Apply all powder coat material in a suitably designed powder coating spray booth. 3. The surface shall be free of chromate conversion coating, oil, and grease. 4. The surface shall be pretreated to provide cleaning and conversion coating to prepare the surface for the light sweep blasting to remove zinc oxide or zinc hydroxide. Other methods of pretreating may be used in accordance with ASTM D 7803-12. 5. The surface shall be thermally pretreated by prebaking 9out gassing) for one hour after reaching outgassing temperature defined as being 50 degrees F (30 deg C) higher than the powder manufacturer’s suggested curing temperature. The thermal pretreatment temperature shall not exceed 535 deg F (280 deg C). 6. Cure coating in an oven according to manufacturer’s instruction. 7. Acceptable products shall be certified by the powder manufacturer as meeting the performance requirements of the AAMA 2604-05., ultraviolet resistant, and labeled “super durable”. 8. The powder shall have an Outgas Forgiving Agent (OGF) not exceeding 1.5% of total volume. ****END OF ADDENDUM****
