2.1 Discussion- Dogs on the Commons
Commissioner Segerson shared that he and Commissioner Comella have sent out the
questions to the municipalities we are contacting for benchmarking logistics and
experience surrounding the issue of allowing dogs on public pedestrian malls. He
shared that the sole responding community has infrastructure and staffing supporting
the clean-up detail that allowing dogs in public areas requires.
The Commission discussed these findings and other details about what work might be
needed to accommodate dogs on the commons. The Commissioners agreed to follow
up on the topic at April’s meeting. City Clerk Conley Holcomb and PIS Faraday offered
to assist in reaching out to the additional targeted communities if Commissioners
Segerson & Comella would like to initiate phone calls to them.
