Dear Mr. Houseknecht:
Enclosed, please find the Asbestos Bulk Sample Report Form, the associated Laboratory
Analytical Result Sheets, and the Sample Location Drawing for the bulk sampling performed by
Delta Certified Inspector Thomas P. Ferro. The sampling was performed on September 29th,
2017 and addressed suspect materials with the potential to be impacted by the upcoming 2018
Renovation Project in the basement at 122 McGraw Place (SAE House). Based on a review of
the basement renovation area limits as outlined in the drawing provided by Cornell Project
Manager Mike Stewart, a visual inspection of the affected areas, and a review of previously of
existing Delta Bulk Sample Information for the building, a total of fourteen (14) bulk samples
were collected representing the seven (7) homogenous materials. Twelve (12) of the samples
collected were “Non-Friable Organically Bound” (NOB) representing six (6) homogenous
materials. The remaining two (2) samples were “Non-NOB’s” representing one (1) homogenous
material. The 9” x 9” Brown w/Tan Floor Tile and associated mastic was reported as
“Asbestos Containing”. This “Asbestos Containing” Floor Tile and Mastic is located at the
bottom landing of stairwell of B00SB, with a total quantity is approximately 12 square
Feet. During the survey, approximately 2 linear feet of damaged “assumed” asbestos
containing aircell pipe insulation was observed in the north east corner of Room B13.
Results for all other samples collected were reported as “No Asbestos Detected.”
In addition to the materials sampled as a part of this survey, several other suspect materials were
observed to be present within the affected renovation areas but not sampled. These included:
Wall System plasters, sheetrock/joint compound, textured paints/coating and patch
materials
Flooring System mastics, levelers, various sizes/colors of floor tile and quarry tile
grout/mortar bed
Ceiling System plasters, sheetrock/joint compound and suspended acoustical tiles
All of the above referenced suspect materials present in the Basement Renovation spaces were
previously sampled by Delta and reported as being non-asbestos.

Bulk sample analysis was performed by AmeriSci New York, Inc., an independent laboratory
approved / accredited by the NYS Department of Health (ELAP), the American Industrial
Hygiene Association (AIHA), and the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program
(NVLAP). Analysis of all Non-Friable Organically Bound (NOB) materials was initially
performed by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) following the NYS DOH ELAP 198.6
Methodologies. If the PLM results were reported as “non-asbestos”, the sample was then
analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) following the NYS DOH ELAP 198.4
Methodology. Analysis of all Non-NOB materials was performed by Polarized Light Microscopy
(PLM) following the NYS DOH ELAP 198.1 Methodology. “Positive Stop” sample analysis
protocol was utilized for a given homogenous material set with multiple samples and based on
this; 12 of the 14 samples collected were analyzed. Please reference the Asbestos Bulk Sample
Report Form for sample particulars and details.
