HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2018-09-26CITY OF ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MINUTES Regular Meeting 3:30 p.m. September 26, 2018 Present: Chair: Kane Commissioners (4) Rogers, Onyejuruwa, Beem-Miller, Wright Excused: DaGrossa Others Present: Public Information Specialist - Faraday Call to Order: 3:30p.m. Approval of the August 22, 2018 Community Police Board Meeting Minutes- Resolution: Moved by Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Wright RESOLVED, That the minutes of the August 22, 2018 Community Police Board meeting be approved as published. Carried Unanimously Report from the Common Council: Alderperson Kerslick informed the Commissioners that at the Mayor will present his budget on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. The Public Safety Budget will be presented on Thursday, October 11, 2018. The PBA is still not under contract, Common Council is not involved in negotiations of the Police contract. Old Business: Vacancies on the Community Police Board were discussed. The Commissioners discussed ways to better recruit new members to the CPB to fill upcoming and presently existing vacancies. The Youth Member and where to recruit for this position was discussed. The Commissioners tasked PIS Faraday with creation of some informational/ promotional materials for Social Media and other targeted markets for member recruitment. Motion to enter Executive Session to discuss active investigations: By Chair Kane: Seconded by Commissioner Rogers RESOLVED, That the Board enter into Executive Session to discuss the conclusion of Complaint #2018-2 Reconvene: The Board reconvened into regular session with no formal action taken. Resolution: By Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Beem-Miller RESOLVED, That Complaint #2018-2 be considered complete and closed. Ayes (4) Rogers, Beem-Miller, Onyejuruwa, Wright Nays (0) Abstentions (1) Kane CARRIED (4-0-1) Chair Kane abstained from vote; Commissioners Rogers, Onyejuruwa, Beem-Miller, and Wright voted in favor of closing the complaint.
