MEMBER —Dennis MEMBERS OF PUBLIC AND PRESS 1 . POLICE DEPARTMENT AUTHORIZED EQUIPMENT LIST The request of the Police Chief to increase the purchase of 6 vehicles, instead of 5 , with no additional funding required, _ was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote . The request of the Police Chief to substitute $6 ,590 provided for the purchase of 12 Ports to purchase a personal computer and software packages was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote. 2 . FUNDING TO REMOVE ASBESTOS FROM STEWART PARK BATHROOMS The request of the Board of Public Works for $1 ,414 from Restricted Contingency for removal of asbestos was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote . 3 . ' APPOINTMENT OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR The request of the Board of Public Works to appoint Dennis L. Drader, at a salary of $25 ,490 , pending licensing and becoming a resident of the City, was recommended to Common Council by a 4-1 vote, with Alderperson Cummings casting the No vote . 4 . COLLEGETOWN STREET IMPROVEMENTS The request of the Board of Public Works to appropriate an additional $45 ,000 to complete Phase II was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote , with funding to be provided from C.H.I.P. s. 5 . DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION After discussion by Committee , this item was recommended going to Common Council as a report. 6 . NOMINATION OF ALDERPERSON CUMMINGS TO I.U.R.A. After extensive discussion, including comments from Alderpersons Nichols and Johnson, I .U.R.A. member Dennis, and a statement read by Alderperson Cummings , the nomination to appoint Alderperson Cummings was recommended to Common Council by a 4-0-1 vote , with Alderperson Hoffman abstaining. -2- January 28 , 1988 7 . FIRE STATIONS RENOVATIONS After discussion it was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote to establish a Capital Project, in the amount of $900 ,000 . 8 . NEW FIRE STATIONS After discussion, it was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote that a Capital Project, already established, be funded for $1 ,800 ,000 . 9 . D.P.W. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ROSTER The request of the Personnel Director to reclassify a position at the Ithaca Wastewater Treatment Plant from an Account Clerk Typist to an Account Clerk Steno, and a position in Streets and Facilities from an Account Clerk to a Micro Computer Operator, was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote . 10 . ENGINEERING TECHNICIANS After discussion, including comments from the Personnel Director and William Baker of the Water and Sewer Department, the matter was continued until the next B&A Meeting, at which time members of the Civil Service Commission will be asked to attend. 11 . ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW FOR ITHACA INDUSTRIAL PARK = After discussion, the matter was continued until the next B&A Meeting. 12 . CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT SUBGRANT APPLICATIONS After discussion, it was unanimously recommended to Common Council by 5-0 votes to proceed with applications for undertaking Phase II of the South Hill Architectural and Historic Resources Survey and preparation of a National Register nomination for the Cascadilla Boathouse . 13 . FIRE DEPARTMENT AUTHORIZED EQUIPMENT LIST The request of the Fire Chief to purchase two Cascade Cylinders for $800 and Security System Hardware for $2 ,200 was unanimously recommended to Common Council by a 5-0 vote. Funding to come from existing Fire Department Budget. The meeting adjourned at 12 : 55 P.M. i . _ I
