Budget Meeting #3 6:27 p.m. 10/18/2017

Discussion of the Mayor’s Budget
Alderperson Mohlenhoff called for a motion to take from the table the motion to approve the Mayor’s
budget to allow Common Council to continue discussion of the budget.
A motion to take from the table the motion to approve Mayor’s budget was made by Alderperson
Fleming, Seconded by Alderperson Kerslick.
A vote on the motion resulted as follows: Passed unanimously (10-0).
There was a discussion with the Hangar Theatre about their financial situation and the relationship
between the City, which owns the building, and the Hangar Theatre, which made improvements to the
building several years ago.
There was a discussion with the Multicultural Resource Center Youth Fellows about their Participatory
Budgeting pilot program, for which the Mayor has recommended $10,000 in the proposed budget.
There was a discussion with GIAC.

There was a discussion with the Youth Bureau, including a discussion of the $100,000 capital project
toward the enclosure of the Cass Park Rink.
There was a discussion with the Department of Planning, Building and Development, including the
request above the Mayor’s budget for two additional housing inspectors.
Council made some additions to the list of potential changes to the budget.
Meeting Wrap-up
A motion to lay on the table the motion to approve the budget was made by Alderperson Kerslick,
Seconded by Alderperson Smith.
A vote on the motion resulted as follows: Passed unanimously (10-0).
