'I G ORD E Chairman Leonard stated that the adoption of a new Zoning Ordinance is the first Matter of importance to be undertaken by the Board, and copies of a proposed ordinance mere distributed. The L%ai.rman agreed to invite the Uity itttorney .and Attorney , Powers to attend the next meeting, at which time the legal Interpretation of the definitions will be discussed. ZONING ORDINAITCF After discussing the Zoning Ordinance it was agreed that a new draft should be prepared and it ias moved, By Commissioner Brown, Sec. by Commissioner Barr Resolved, that the City Attorney, City Assessor and the Chairman of this Board, with the help of other City employees, be requested to prepare a 'Zoring Ordinance and present to this Board ofr consideration , Carried. Attorney Powers reviewed the attempts which have been made to prepare satisfactory Zoning Ordinances during the past• ten years and he called attention to the neglect of former Planning Boards in approving one of the sevaral which have been prepared and pr.ew sented for consideration and he urged the prompt action in approv- ing the ordinance when presented by the Committee, even though it may not be perfect He stated that it is very important that an up-to-date ordinance and zone map be promptly adopted as the Board of Zoning Jtppeals is experiencing great difficulty in administering the present or- dinance, He also called attention to the importance of preparing and the adoption of a use map. DESIGNATION OF STREET NAMES-SOUTH HILL The Chairman reported that Assessor Thorne recommends that the streets in the Morse Chain Housing Development on South Hill be designated as follows; Grandview Avenau - From Aurora Street, Grandview Place - South from Grandview Avenue, Grandview Court - North from Grandview Avenue. By Commissioner Barr; Sec. by Commissioner Swenson Resolved., that the designation of streets in the Morse Chain Housing Development be and they hereby are approved as recommended. Carried. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION Commissioner Brown presented a list of sub- ects whIch he felt should be discussed by the Board and he suggest- ed that other members submit lists. He emphasized the importance of Arterial Highways thnugh the City and Engineer Cass reported that it is expected that the State will submit a plan sometime dur- ing the early summer on Arterial Highways, which will come before this Board for consideration. MEETING HOUR The Commissioners agreed on the hour of 4=30 P.M. or future meetings. On motion the meeting was adjourned to the call of the Chairman. F. H. BUDGET - 1949 Chairman Leonard r-ported that there have been no w th rawals from the '.".1000.00 appropriated to the Planning Hoard, _ and since funds in excess of that amount will be required in the early sta-res of :Kap Preparation, he recownended that a requisition for � 2000,00 ;,or t'rie Year 1949 be filed with the Council. It was agreed that this Board should become affiliated with the Conference, the Annual Membership Fee being 110.00. ASSIGNIC-,NT$ The matter of assigning various phases of planning to Committees was discussed and Chairman Leonard agreed to announce Committees prior to the next meeting.
