Ithaca City Building Dept.
!08 E. Green St.
Ithaca, NY 14850
Dear Building Department,
I have recently purchased 119-121 Prospect St and the adjoining 123
Prospect St rental properties. There are 13 people in these two buildings.
There is no parking available at 119-121 and there are 3spaces at 123.
I am concerned about the students and others who rent these buildings,
purchasing parking elsewhere and then having to cross a very busy and
somewhat dangerous street and its intersection with 94 B (5. Aurora St.).
There is also a problem with the stone retaining wall that holds the driveway
and parking lot between 12312 and the street. The trees, especially the one
in the corner 1 -is breaking the wall as it grows and very shortly we will
have much of the parking lot distributed all over Prospect Street.
The steps, walks and stone walls of 119-121 Prospect are also in bad shape
and the porch has very steep steps leading up to it.
I would like to know if you think my plans for taking care of these problems
Would work in an acceptable way. I have sketched them out on the attached
pages. My plans involve rebuilding the broken wall in front of 123 and
extending just past the 119-121 property line, thereby creating easy access
to the 119-121 porch and a wider turn for the driveway between the two
houses. I would like to extend this driveway towards the rear of the houses
and, thereby, achieve some additional parking.
I wonder if it would be possible for you to discuss these plans with me at
the site. I would be willing to take easements or place these properties on
the same deed in order to implement these plans. I plan to hire a company
who can develop complete plans with all the specs for your perusal before
proceeding with a permit.
