SOUTH AURORA STREET BRIDGE REPAIRS: Comm. Leary reported that the Council had rejected. li
their request for additional funds for the repairs to South Aurora Street bridge and
they were going to rebid next year. Comm. Downing felt that as long as the bids came
fifty percent over the estimate that Modjeski and Masters should modify the specifica-
tions. Comm. Ewanicki felt that repairs would be more extensive if deteriation accelerates;
Superintendent Dingman said cost of maintenance might rise but did not think so. The
bridge is 15 years old and concrete is of poor quality and by todays standards would not
be acceptable. Mr. Dingman felt that the time table for completion was the main factor
and in his opinion was questionable whether it could have been met. Weather would have
been a prime factor for completion.
By Comm. Leary: seconded by Comm. Ewanicki ~`
RESOLVED, that all of the bids for South Aurora Street bridge repairs as reported at the,
September 6, 1972, meeting be rejected and the Clerk authorized to return the bid

DREDGING OF INLET: Superintendent Dignan reported that on a request from the Mayor
H had instructed the City Engineer to contact the Corps of Engineers to see if we.were
eligible for relief. They have reported thatlwe were ineligible as there was adequate
flow in the channel to take care of the spring run offs. This will be pursued further as
the State Barge Canal System is asking for relief in the inlet channel. As far as
Cascadilla Creek is concerned, Assistant Superintendent Pat Hannan reported this could be
taken care of by a clam bucket and the Water and Sewer Division had requested funds in
next years budget for the purchase of this equipment. Alderman Spano asked if the digging
up on the East side of the Golf Course had anything to do with the dredging of Cascadilla'
Creek. Assistant Superintendent Hannan replied that a water line was going in on the East
side of the Pier Po.d and the other side wouldlhave the sewer line. As Cascadilla Creek
was considered a recreation area it could not fall under the normal dredging operations of
the state and if it was dredged wouldhave to be done by the City.
