APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Richardson made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 14, 2000 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: Building Department - Electrical Inspector The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Building Department and the proposed job description for Electrical Inspector. After discussion, Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Electrical Inspector and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify and authorize a temporary Fire Lieutenant position for the period October 11, 2000 through April 11, 2001 . Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis . New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: Ithaca Fire Department - Director of Development The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca Fire Department and the proposed job description for Director of Development. Fire Chief Brian Wilbur and Volunteer Coordinator Marcia Lynch explained the Fire Department' s proposed staffing change and reasons for it, and answered questions from the Commission. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Director of Development and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0 . New Position Duties Statement and Revision of Job Description: Planning and Development - Deputy Director of Planning and Development The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Planning and Development Department, and proposed revisions to the Deputy Director of Planning and Development job description. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Deputy Director of Planning and Development and to revise the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis . Motion carried 2-0. Authorization to Direct Public Hearing Deputy Director Saul advised the Commission that the State Civil Service Department requested that the rules amendment to add the title of Natural Areas Rangers to the non-competitive class be supplemented with a resolution to delete the former titles of Gorge Rangers and Park Ranger from the non-competitive class . Commissioner Richardson made a motion to direct a public hearing on November 15, 2000 at 11 : 30 am for the purpose of hearing public comment on this proposal . Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. New Position Duties Statement: Ithaca Housing Authority - Recreation Leader The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca Housing Authority. Commissioner Civil Service Commission October 11, 2000 Page 3 Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Recreation Leader. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis . Motion carried 2-0. New Position Duties Statement: Ithaca City School District - Occupational Therapist The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Occupational Therapist. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. OLD BUSINESS Reclassification Request and Adoption of Job Description: Youth Bureau - Recreation Facilities Director This item remained tabled pending action by Common Council . Reclassification Request and Adoption of Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor (Recreational Facilities) Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to reclassify the Working Supervisor position at Cass Park to Maintenance Supervisor (Recreational Facilities) as proposed and to adopt the Maintenance Supervisor (Recreational Facilities) job description as proposed.
