APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Thompson made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 5, 2001 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 2-0 . Commissioner Eastman arrived. NEW BUSINESS New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: Human Resources - Employee Health and Safety Coordinator The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Human Resources Department and a proposed job description for Employee Health and Safety Coordinator . Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as Employee Health and Safety Coordinator and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 3-0 . New Position Duties Statement: Youth Bureau - Recreation Supervisor The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as Recreation Supervisor. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3-0 . New Position Duties Statement: ICSD - School Lunch Manager The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as School Lunch Manager. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 3-0 . Civil Service Commission May 17 , 2001 Page 2 New Position Duties Statement: ICSD - Senior Typist The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District . Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as Senior Typist. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3-0 . New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: ICSD - Affirmative Action Officer The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District and a proposed job description for Affirmative Action Officer. The Commission determined that they needed further information before making a classification decision. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to table this item until the next meeting, and request the following information from the Ithaca City School District: 1 . A description of the differences between the proposed position of Affirmative Action Officer and the existing position of Director of Affirmative Action and Multicultural Education Services; 2 . Information as to which position (s) will assume any job responsibilities that are currently being performed by the Director of Affirmative Action and Multicultural Education Services and will not be assumed by the Affirmative Action Officer. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 3-0. Authorization to Direct Public Hearing to Amend Civil Service Rules This item was not acted upon, due to the tabling of the previous item. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Richardson made a motion to go into executive session to discuss civil service examination matters . Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0 .
