Meeting Minutes
Attendance: George McGonigal, Dave Warden, Talyse LaDora Hampton and Zoran Smiljanic

Meeting called to order at 6:22 p.m. by Talyse Hampton
The Minutes from March 8, 2016, were tabled for next month’s meeting, as there wasn’t a quorum.
There was a brief discussion regarding the recognition of Bill Murphy’s service of so many years. This
was discussed and tabled for next month’s meeting. Liz will be sending him a personal letter in
appreciation for his years of service to the IYB. Jody will see if she can find out how many years Bill
served on the Board and/or volunteered with the IYB. George was going to look into “recognition” with
Common Council and see if there is anything that can be done. Talyse asked that members email her with
ideas for honoring Bill.
Liz had several staff updates/announcements:
The YES program has hired the 2nd position of program leader her name is Emily. The RSS department is
not headed by Joanie Groom and Courtney Glenn as the coordinators. This Thursday, April 14th is the
CDP, YES and Friends fundraiser at Coltivare which will be wine tasting and silent auction, Bev Stokes
will be the musician for the event. Tickets are available now, $25 each prior to event or $30 at the door
and you can go online to purchase these. May 7th is Community Service Day and Marty is hoping for lots
of volunteers for the day which will include planting, weeding, mulching and other projects here and at
Stewart Park.
The boat rentals start renting on Thursday 4/14 and there are some RFP’s that are starting to come in now
for boat concessions.
The Jump On Board event is May 9th from 5-8 at The Space and Talyse will register us and members
signed up for different times to set up the tabling event and to make sure there is someone there for the
event. Jody will have the tabling items ready for pick up that day at 4:30 by George. George will set up
from 5-6:30; Caitlin may be able to – Talyse will email her; Zoran stated he may be able to help as well
for the entire time.
Mary Grainger from the Friends of the IYB came to the meeting to talk about the Cass Park Renovations
fundraising she is heading up. She met with user groups in February and recently there was an article in
the Ithaca Times regarding this too. She passed around some different survey sheets, a flyer and the
article for members to complete/read. She is looking for community support for these renovations.
Information can be found on the Friends website and if anyone would like to donate funds it can be done
online or with the form she passed out. Mary will keep the board updated monthly as to the
progress/status of this and will email either Talyse or Eric before the meetings. Mary
The Shadowing/monitoring docs were tabled for next month’s meeting.
Dave Warden gave an updated from Board of Public Works they have discussed bike lanes and the
controversial. The Board of PW also approved the waiver of fee for the Stewart Park Large pavilion for 2
days in which some work will be done on the pavilion, such as replacement of doors and the stained glass
windows.
