Home My WebLink AboutMN-CIV-1996-05-07 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING May 7, 1996 Present: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Desch, Commissioner Perko, Hugh Hurlbut (Interim Personnel Administrator, Bonnie Fiorille (Senior Stenographer) Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 11:01 a.m. PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CIVIL SERVICE RULES Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to open the public hearing on the proposed amendment to Appendix B, Non- Competitive Class of the Civil Service Rules. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried 3-0. The following legal notice was published in the Ithaca Journal: "Please take notice that pursuant to Section 20 of the New York State Civil Service Law, the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission will hold a public hearing on May 7, 1996, at 11:00 a.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room of City Hall- 108 East Green Street - Ithaca, NY 14850, for the purpose of amending Appendix B by adding the position of Director of Affirmative Action and Multicultural Education Services to the non-competitive class. All interested parties and citizens for or against the adoption of this amendment to the Rules are invited to attend and be heard." There were no persons present to address the Commission on the proposed amendment. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to close the public hearing. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried 3-0. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Perko made a motion to approve the minutes from the April 8, 1996 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Commissioner Desch abstained. Motion carried 2-0-1. NEW BUSINESS RESOLUTION FOR AMENDMENT TO APPENDIX B - NON-COMPETITIVE CLASS OF THE CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE RULES Commissioner Perko made the following motion: WHEREAS,the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission duly advertised and held a public hearing on May 7, 1996,for the purpose of amending Appendix B- Non-Competitive Class of the City of Ithaca Civil Service rules by adding the Ithaca City School District position of Director of Affirmative Action and Multicultural Education Services, and WHEREAS, the Ithaca Civil Service Commission supports the proposed amendment, and no persons spoke against the proposed amendment, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the position of Director of Affirmative Action and Multicultural Education Services in the Ithaca City School District be added to Appendix B - Non-Competitive Class. Seconded by Commissioner Desch. Motion carried 3-0. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Civil Service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried 3-0.
