Home My WebLink AboutMN-CIV-1994-02-14 REGULAR MEETING CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION February 14 , 1994 Present: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Perko, Commissioner Middleton, Valerie Saul (Personnel Administrator) , Bonnie Fiorille (Senior Stenographer) Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. PUBLIC HEARING - AMENDMENT TO THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES - JURISDICTIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF SCHOOL DISTRICT CLERK Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to open the public hearing on the proposed amendment to Appendix A of the Civil Service Rules. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. The following legal notice was published in the Ithaca Journal: ' LEGAL NOTICE CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING "Please take notice that pursuant to Section 20 of the New York State Civil Service Law, the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission will hold a public hearing on February 14, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room - City Hall - 108 East Green Street - Ithaca, New York, for the purpose of amending Appendix A of the City of Ithaca Civil Spr-vice Rules by adding the position of "School District Clerk" to the Exempt Class. All interested parties and citizens for or against the adoption of this amendment to the Rules are invited to attend and be heard." There were no persons present to address the Commission on the proposed amendment. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to close the public hearing. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. RESOLUTION FOR AMENDMENT TO APPENDIX A - EXEMPT CLASS OF THE CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE RULES Commissioner Perko made the following motion: WHEREAS, the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission duly advertised and held a Public Hearing on February 14, 1994, for the purpose of amending Appendix A - Exempt Class of the City of Ithaca Civil Service Rules by adding the position of "School District Clerk" and, WHEREAS, the Ithaca Civil Service Commission supports the proposed amendment, and no persons spoke against the proposed amendment, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the position of "School District Clerk" be added to Appendix A - Exempt Class. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS APPROVAL OF 1993 ANNUAL REPORT The Commission reviewed and discussed the 1993 Annual Report. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to approve the Annual Report. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - SENIOR LABORER The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Middleton made a motion to classify the position as Senior Laborer. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - MAINTAINER The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Perko made a motion to classify the position as Maintainer. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Civil Service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. After Executive Session, the Commission took the following actions: AMENDMENT OF ROSTER OF CANDIDATES FOR EXAMINATION Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to amend the Roster of Candidates for the Senior Police Dispatcher Examination #77-493 by adding two additional candidates. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF PERSONNEL TRANSACTIONS Commissioner Perko made a motion to approve the Personnel Transactions listed below. The Commission will revert back to meeting on the second Monday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in November 1994 . Commissioner Bantuvanis and Personnel Administrator Saul were excused from the March 1994 meeting as they will both be out of town on the meeting date.
