Home My WebLink AboutMN-CIV-1993-04-12 li REGULAR MEETING CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION April 12, 1993 Present: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Perko, Commissioner Middleton, Valerie Saul (Personnel Administrator) , Bonnie Fiorille (Personnel Associate) Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CIVIL SERVICE RULES Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to open the public hearing on the proposed amendment to Appendix A of the Civil Service Rules. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. The following legal notice was published in the Ithaca Journal: LEGAL NOTICE CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING "Please take notice that pursuant to Section 20 of the New York State Civil Service Law, the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission will hold a public hearing on April 12, 1993 at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room - City Hall - 108 East Green Street - Ithaca, New York, for the purpose of amending its Rules by adding a second position of "Confidential Secretary to the City Attorney" to the exempt class. All interested parties and citizens for or against the adoption of this change to the Rules are invited to attend and be heard." There were no persons present to address the Commission on the public hearing. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to close the public hearing. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. RESOLUTION TO AMEND APPENDIX A (EXEMPT CLASS) OF THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES Commissioner Perko made the following motion: WHEREAS, the City of Ithaca Civil Service Commission duly advertised and held a Public Hearing on April 12, 1993 , for the purpose of amending Appendix A = gxempt Class of the City of Ithaca Civil Service Rules by adding a second position of "Confidential Secretary to the City Attorney" and, WHEREAS, the Ithaca Civil Service Commission supports the proposed amendment and no persons spoke against the proposed amendment, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a second position of "Confidential Secretary to the City Attorney" be added to Appendix A = Exempt Class. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (W&S) The Commission reviewed and discussed the New Position Duties Statements for the following new positions in the Water and Sewer Division of the Department of Public Works: Truck Driver, Laborer (2) , Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Mechanic, Wastewater Collection System Supervisor. The Wastewater Collection System Supervisor' is a new job title. The Commission reviewed the proposed job description. Commissioner Middleton made a motion to classify one Truck Driver position, two Laborer positions, one Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Mechanic position and one Wastewater Collection System Supervisor position, and to adopt the proposed job description for Wastewater Collection System Supervisor. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: ITHACA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT The Commission reviewed and discussed the New Position Duties Statements for three new positions in the Ithaca City School District. Commissioner Middleton made a motion to classify two positions as Senior Typist and the other position as Senior Library Clerk. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (PARKING LOTS) The Commission reviewed the New Position Duties Statement for three new part time positions in the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Perko made a motion to classify the three positions as Parking Lot Attendant (PT) . Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: ITHACA HOUSING AUTHORITY - TYPIST The Commission reviewed and discussed the New Position Duties Statement for a new position at the Ithaca Housing Authority. Commissioner Middleton made a motion to classify the position as Typist. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss civil service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried.
