Home My WebLink AboutMN-CSC-1992-11-16 REGULAR MEETING CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION November 16, 1992 Present: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Perko, Commissioner Middleton, Lisa Patz (Executive Secretary) ,Richard Eckstrom (Building Commissioner) , William Gray (Superintendent of Public Works) , Harlin McEwen (Police Chief) Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Perko made a motion to accept the minutes of the October 14, 1992 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT - ACCOUNT CLERK: ITHACA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement for part-time 10-month Account Clerk. Executive Secretary Patz explained that this position needs to be classified and a job specification needs to be adopted. The Ithaca City School District would also like to abolish a part-time 10 month Typist position. Commissioner Perko made a motion to classify the position as a part-time 10 month Account Clerk and, abolish the part-time 10 month Typist position. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT - DEPUTY BUILDING COMMISSIONER: BUILDING DEPARTMENT The Commission reviewed and discussed the New Position Duties Statement for the Deputy Building Commissioner. Building Commissioner Eckstrom explained to the Commission the need to classify and adopt the job specification for this position as well as the need for the Building Department to add a second Deputy Building Commissioner position to the roster. Commissioner Perko made a motion to classify the position as Deputy Building Commissioner. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT - CITY FORESTER: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Superintendent of Public Works Gray requested an extension of a provisional appointment of the City Forester. Since the Department of Public Works was currently interviewing for the City Forester position and the possible reorganization of the Parks section within the department, Superintendent of Public Works Gray is requesting an extension of an additional sixty (60) days before terminating the provisional appointee. Commissioner Perko made a motion to grant the additional sixty (60) days to resolve the termination of provisional appointment. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. Civil Service Commission Meeting - November 16, 1992 Page 2 CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Civil Service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. After Executive Session, the Commission took the following actions: ESTABLISHMENT OF ELIGIBLE LIST Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to establish the following Eligible List for the time period indicated. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. Supervisor of Water and Sewer Operations - Promotional Exam No. 75-567 (1 year) APPROVAL OF PERSONNEL TRANSACTIONS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to accept the following Personnel Transactions. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried.
