Home My WebLink AboutMN-CIV-1991-11-12 71 REGULAR MEETING CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION November 12 , 1991 PRESENT: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Middleton, Commissioner Perko, Lisa Patz (Personnel Associate) , Bonnie Fiorille (Senior Stenographer) EXCUSED: Valerie Saul (Personnel Administrator Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 3 :47 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to accept the minutes of the October 15, 1991 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: SCHOOL TAX COLLECTOR - ICSD The Commission reviewed and discussed the New Position Duties Statement for School Tax Collector. Personnel Associate Patz explained that this position needs to be classified and a job specification needs to be adopted. This position would be 2laced in the exempt class. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to classify the new position as School Tax Collector. Seconded by Commissioner Perko. Motion carried. A legal notice will be published in the Ithaca Journal for a Public Hearing. The Public Hearing will be January 13 , 1992 . REVISION OF JOB DESCRIPTION FOR ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (STREET AND FACILITIES) Personnel Associate Patz explained to the Commission that when the position of Assistant Superintendent of Public Works (Water & Sewer) was created, the job description for Assistant Superintendent of Public Works (Streets & Facilities) was never amended to reflect this new position. Personnel Associate Patz stated that we are simply removing the water and sewer job duties from the Assistant Superintendent of Public Works (Streets & Facilities) job description. Commissioner Perko made a motion to revise the job description for Assistant Superintendent of Public Works (Streets & Facilities) . Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. AMENDMENT TO CHIEF WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR AND CHIEF WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR Personnel Associate Patz explained to the Commission that we are amending the job descriptions to distinguish that the Chief Water and Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator report to the Assistant Superintendent of Public Works (Water & Sewer) . r Civil Service Commission Meeting November 12, 1991 Page 2 Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to amend the Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator and Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator job descriptions. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. AMENDMENT TO YOUTH BUREAU JOB DESCRIPTIONS Personnel Associate Patz explained that a portion of the job titles at the Youth Bureau include volunteer experience on the job specifications. Youth Bureau Director Cohen is requesting that all youth related job titles be consistent to include the following volunteer experience on the job specification: Part-time and/or verifiable volunteer experience may be credited toward the experiential requirement on a pro-rata basis. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to authorize the Personnel Department to add the above stated language to all youth related job descriptions at the Youth Bureau. Seconded by Commissioner Middleton. Motion carried. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Civil Service examination matters.
