Home My WebLink AboutMN-CIV-1990-11-19 REGULAR MEETING CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NOVEMBER 19, 1990 PRESENT: Commissioner Bantuvanis, Commissioner Perko, Valerie Saul, (Personnel Administrator) , Lisa Patz (Personnel Associate) , Bonnie Fiorille (Senior Stenographer) ABSENT: Commissioner Middleton The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Perko made a motion to accept the minutes of the October 15, 1990 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS NEW POSITIONS DUTIES STATEMENT - ITHACA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT: SENIOR TYPIST Personnel Associate Patz explained that this is a new position being created in the Personnel Department at the Ithaca City School District. The Commission reviewed the New Positions Duties Statement. Commissioner Perko made a motion to classify a new Senior Typist position in the Personnel Department at the Ithaca City School District. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. REPORT ON AMENDMENT TO CIVIL SERVICE RULES Personnel Administrator Saul explained to the Commission that all of the amendments to the Civil Service Rules were approved with the exception of the request to place the Confidential Secretary to the Police Chief in the Exempt Class. This request was denied because the State felt that there was no justification for having this position exempt, as it is not a position that serves an elected official. The State feels that this position. should be classified as competitive. Chief McEwen and Personnel Administrator Saul are exploring the City's options for appealing this decision and will keep the Commission informed. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Civil Service Examination matters. Motion carried. After Executive Session, the Commission took the following actions: APPROVAL OF ROSTERS OF CANDIDATES FOR EXAMINATION Commissioner Perko made a motion to accept the Roster of Candidates for Police Officer Open-Competitive Examination No. 68-620. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried. Commissioner Perko made a motion to accept the Roster of Candidates for Principal Account Clerk Promotional Examination No. 72-987. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried.
