'� Commissioner Schickel called the meeting to order at 4:32 P.M. NEW BUSINESS APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Martin moved that the Minutes of the October meeting be approved. Seconded by Commissioner Schickel . Motion carried unamirtously. NEW COMMISSIONER Commissioners Schickel and Martin welcomed Mrs. Ann Bantuvanis to the Commission and expressed their desire to work with her. Commissioner Bantuvanis was appointed to fill out Commissioner Slaght's term of office. ZONE SCORING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Commissioner Schickel asked Executive Secretary Pezdek to give background information on zone scoring and and cross filing in order to brief Commissioner Bantuvanis. Mr. Pezdek gave an explination of each process and a background on each, as well as, why the Commission had received a letter of acknowledgement from the Local Examinations Division of the New York State Department of Civil Service on the Commission's request to have the forth coming Police Officer examination results zone scored. ROSTERS OF CANDIDATES Commissioner Schickel moved that the following Rosters of Candidates for Examination be approved: Custodian, No. 73-930, Prom. ; Principal Account Clerk, No. 67-668; Custodian, No. 66-755; Principal Account Clerk, No. 74-483 NCP; Library Clerk, No. 1986-5, Clerk, No. 1986-6 and Police Officer, No. 62-930. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. The Commission then reviewed the Rosters of Candidates then voted. Motion carried unanimously. DPW RE-CLASSIFICATION STUDY Executive Secretary Pezdek asked the Commission if it would release the DPW Re- Classification study prior to the next meeting. He explained that the basic typing was now done and that only one more position specification was needed - that for Senior Laborer. The Commission discussed Mr. Pezdek's request. Commissioner Schickel then moved that the Re-Classification study be released prior to the Commission's next meeting with the stipulation that the Commission review the proposal prior to the release. Seconded by Commissioner Martin. Motion carried unanimously. J kJ ' ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER POSITION SPECIFICATION • Executive Secretary Pezdek asked the Commission to approve the position specificat- ion for Assistant Civil Engineer. He explained that the engineering examinations were only given one a year in January and that the other engineering examinations has just been announced, but that he could not announce the examination for the Assistant Civil Engineer because the Commission had not approved the position specification. He further stated that if the Commission did not approve the specification then a year's wait would follow before the next examination. He also stated that Superintendent Dougherty and he had discussed the matter at Superintendent Dougherty's request and that Mr. Dougherty was in favor of proceeding with the new specification prior to the adoption of the re-classification study. The Department of Publice Works is loosing two of its three Assistant Engineers in December and also has no City Engineer at this point. The Commission reviewed the specification then voted. Motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS None ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. Copies of the Common Council resolution on combining Civil Service into the Personnel Department were distributed. Commissioner Schickel gave Commissioner Bantuvanis background history on this matter. 2. The April 1987 examination series has been announced to appointing authorities. 3. The following examinations have been announced; City Engineer, No. 67-495; Planner II 67-115 and Junior Engineer No. 68-175. 4. Copies of the NYPE Reporter were distributed. CONTINUNING BUSINESS APPROVAL OF PERSONNEL ACTIONS Commissioner Bantuvanis moved that the following personnel actions be approved effective on the date shown for each and further that the Authorization for Personnel Action on each Roster Card read Civil Service Commission Munites (CSC Min. ) 11/10/86 instead of 11/12/86 due to the postponement of the Commission's meeting by two days.
