APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Desch made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 14, 1998 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS Revision of Drivers License Requirement - Automotive Mechanic Supervisor Deputy Director of Human Resources Saul advised the Commission that the current requirement that candidates for the Automotive Mechanic Supervisor position possess a Class B Commercial Drivers License at the time of appointment has created recruitment difficulties. Assistant Superintendent of Public Works Rick Ferrel is requesting that the drivers license requirement be modified, so that candidates must possess a Class D license at the time of appointment and must acquire a Class B CDL within six months of appointment. Commissioner Desch made a motion to amend the drivers license requirement for the Automotive Mechanic Supervisor position to read as follows: "1. Applicants must possess a NYS Class D Drivers License at the time of appointment and must obtain a NYS Class B Commercial Drivers License within six months of the date of appointment. Appointees must maintain said licenses for the duration of employment." Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. New Position Duties Statement: Ithaca City School District - Senior Typist The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District (Maintenance Department) . Civil Service Commission October 13, 1998 Page 2 Commissioner Desch made a motion to classify the position as Senior Typist. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. New Position Duties Statement: Ithaca City School District - Occupational Therapist PT The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City School District. Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to classify the position as Occupational Therapist PT. Seconded by Commissioner Desch. Motion carried 2-0. Request to Amend Custodian Job Description Deputy Director of Human Resources Saul advised the Commission that this request is not in final format yet and therefore not yet ready for Commission action. Commissioner Desch made a motion to table this request until the November meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into executive session to discuss civil service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Desch. Motion carried 2-0. During executive session, the Commission took the following actions: Approval of Rosters of Candidates for Examination Commissioner Desch made a motion to approve the Rosters of Candidates for Examination listed below. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0.
