by Commissioner Seligmann, seconded by Commissioner Yarrow.
RESOLVED, That the minutes of the March 24, 1995 Community Police
Board Meeting be approved as published.

3. Report from Common Council: Alderperson Shenk reported that Common
Council is discussing the nuisance abatement ordinance again. Chief
McEwen noted that he recently went to the Economic Development
Committee meeting and this topic was discussed.
Alderperson Shenk noted that one of the results of the Council/Staff
retreat was for Common Council to write up a mission statement for the
Community Police Board to review in the near future.
4. Comments from the Public: Rita Linger from the Community Dispute
Resolution Center was present to give an update on the Community
Advocates Program.
5. Report of the Chief: Chief McEwen noted that Chris Xavier from Channel 7
has contacted him to do a pro/con discussion with a local attorney (either
Bill Sullivan or Commissioner Sarachan) regarding the exclusionary rule.
Discussion followed about some of the official duties of the Community
Police Board and Chief McEwen pointed out that the Community Police
Board serves as the appeal board for Taxi Cab Drivers Licenses. That is, if
Chief McEwen should deny a taxi cab drivers license, the only recourse for
the applicant would be to appeal to the Community Police Board. The
Community Police Board decided to place this item on the agenda for
next month to discuss policy.
