HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-BFC-1995-03-14 BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS March 14, 1995 Minutes Present: Commissioners Baker,Romanowski,Yalm Vice-Chair Baker called the meeting to order at 1905 hours. 1. Minutes were not read. 2. There were no additions or deletions to the agenda. 3. Persons wishing to speak to the Board: •Bill Gilligan of Company 6 spoke to the Board regarding a request from the Captain's group to review and revise the draft proposal of the incentive changes they submitted. Gilligan expressed that there were no dramatic changes. The proposal raises some issues that were not addressed by the Board's recommendations for changes in the incentive program. 4. Correspondence: 5. Tompkins County Fire Advisory Board talked about the upgraded 911 system. 6. Membership Changes: Chris Hamilton,is a candidate for membership of Co. 5 and Jason A. Swart is leaving Co. 5. Moved by Comm.Yahn,seconded by Comm. Romanowski to accept as a member. Approved unanimously. 7. Committee Reports: Budget& Finance-Comm. Yahn: •The committee received a letter from Daniel Tier III of the Cause and Origin Unit requesting photographic equipment in the amount of$1500.00. The committee decided to accept the letter as written and to take action on it at a later date. Buildings & Equipment-Comm. Baker: •The committee received a memorandum about vehicle 902. The Department requests the approval of the Board to accept the vehicle as surplus and dispose of it. Moved by Comm. Romanowski, seconded by Comm. Yahn to approve the disposal of 902. approved unanimously. •The committee also received a copy of a memo from Deputy Chief Dorman sent to the Mayor about the temporary closing of Station 7,due to a lack of apparatus. Comm.. Romanowski expressed that he would like the Board to take no further action on the closing of Station 7. •Construction on the new communications closet at Central will began Monday by Lowery Construction. •Dan Tier's letter was referred to this committee. Personnel& Training : •New firefighter St. Denis vas assigned to a shift. •The Department has the same number of employees as funded positions at this time. •Doug Vliet is head of the Department while the Chief and Deputy Chief are out to town Fire Prevention: •no business S. The Board accepted the minutes from the March 7, 1995 committee meetings. 9. Volunteer Coordinator Marcia Lynch reported on recruitment efforts. The minority recruitment campaign is undervay. G. Vanbenschoten is distributing materials. Posters are finished. The permanent reviev committee has been established to start doing interviews. 10. Old Business: Comm. Roma novski and Baker vent a copy of Lyle Neigh's report regarding camera equipment for the Cause&Origin team. 11. Executive session vas held on a personnel matter at 1930 and ended at 1940. 19. Moved by Comm. Romanoyski,seconded by Comm. Yahn to adjourn at 1942. Approved unanimously.
