HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2010-10-28ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING APPROVED MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: Third Floor, Common Council Chambers, City Hall, 108 East Green Street TIME /DATE: October 28, 2010 @ 3:30 pm PRESENT: Commissioners Firenze, Laskowitz, McGruder and Slattery; Staff: Herden ABSENT: Commissioners Bush and Smith; Alderperson Zumoff; Chief Vallely GUEST: Tomo Shibata Chairperson Slattery called the meeting to order at 3:32 pm. 1. Approval of Minutes of Meeting of September 23, 2010 Commissioner McGruder moved to approve last month's minutes. Commissioner Laskowitz seconded The minutes were approved unanimously. 2. Comments from the Public There were no comments from the Public. 3. Report from Common Council There was no report from Common Council. 4. Report from Police Department There was no report from the Police Department. 5. Report from Staff The Apple Harvest Festival tabling went well. Next year, CPB will get a bigger cylinder of helium for the balloons; Commissioner Firenze will contact a local ironworks business about getting one from them. Progress was made on finding Youth Commissioner applicants. 6. Old Business a. To date, no new appointments to the Ithaca Community Police Board have been made. No notice of new applicants has been received by the Chair. To the Board's knowledge, Mayor Peterson is still considering one of the applications already received. b. There are several prospects for Youth Commissioner applicants. c. During their October board meeting, the Syracuse Citizen Review Board will consider CPB's request for them to visit. 7. New Business Because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the Ithaca Community Police Board will move their November and December Board Meetings to the third Thursday of the next two months. November's meeting will take place on Thursday, November 18. December's meeting will take place on Thursday, December 16. 8. Adjournment to Executive Session @ 4:03 pm Motion by Commissioner Laskowitz, seconded by Commissioner McGruder, to move to executive session to discuss and vote on results of investigations of open complaints, then return to public session and adjourn. There were no open complaints. No new complaints and no new citizen letters of compliment were received between the September and October board meetings.
