ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING DRAFT
MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board
PLACE: Third floor Common Council Chambers, City hall, 108 East Green Street,
TIME/DATE: February 22, 2009 @ 3:30 pm
Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Bird MacGruder, Jonathan Laskowitz, Jewle Fisher.
Staff, N. Falconer. Police Chief, Ed Vallely, Councilperson J.R. Claiborne. The meeting was called
to order at 3:35 pm.
1. Approval of minutes of January 22, 2009
Motion made by J Laskowitz, seconded by B, Wigden. Minutes were approved
unanimously.
2. Comments by the Public
A student at TC3 was present, along with her mother, to observe the Board.
3. Report from Common Council
J.R. Claiborne, councilperson, has been appointed as the new liason: and was introduced .
4. Report From Police Department
Discussion of events within this department. Six candidates are being interviewed for four
funded positions. The security system at City Hall is being covered by existing staff.
5. Old Business
The move of this Board's office along with GIAC was discussed, but the timing is not yet set.
6. New Business:
Jewle Fisher, new Youth Member on the Board, has scheduled herself for a ride along with a
patrolman.
J.R. Claiborne requested a copy of the report to Common Council for 08.
7. Motion to Adiourn to Executive session To Discuss Results of Current Investigations.
Motion by Laskowitz, second by Wigden.
8. Return to Public Session, Report on Findings and Adjournment
Two complaints were discussed.
1. (Wigden) Arrangements have been made to meet; the investigation will be carried over and remain open at this
time.
.2. (Slattery) New complaint; arrangements to meet have been made, and the investigation will be carried over and
open to next meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
