MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board
PLACE: Third floor Common Council Chambers, City Hall, 108 East Green Street, Ithaca,
TUAE/DATE: December 27, 2007 @ 3:30 pm
Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Laskowitz, McGruder, Ron Passmore
Staff, N. Falconer.
Absent: Commissioner Flannery, Chief Vallely and Alderperson Coles. The meeting was
called to order at 3:45 pm.
1. Approval of minutes of November 29, 2007
Motion made by B. Wigden, seconded by J. Laskowitz. Minutes approved unanimously.
2. Comments by the Public
No one from the public was present.
3. Report from Common Council
No report.
4. Report From Police Department
None
5. Old Business
Commissioner Slattery reported on his attendance (at their request) at Common Council
committee meeting of Alderperson Claiborne's committee, where he gave a report on this
Board's activity this past year.
6. New Business
None reported.
7. Commissioner Laskowitz moved to change to Executive Session in order to discuss the
progress of particular complaints that involved complainants' and officers' names.
8.. Return to Public Session to report on results of discussion.
The results of the Executive session were as follows:
No new cases have come in this past month. Three investigations were discussed and
decisions made on them.
Investigation 1. Founded. Vote unanimous. Send letters of findings to Chief, with
complainant's letter and final letter to Officer and complainant.
Investigation 2. Commissioner not present to report. Carry over to next month.(Flannery)
Investigation 3. Complainant is still out of town, carry over to next month. (Slattery)
9. Motion to Adjourn meeting, Motion by Laskowitz and second by McGruder
As this was Commissioner Passmore's last meeting, a short farewell ceremony was
conducted.
