HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2007-10-25ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING DRAFT MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: Third floor Common Council Chambers, City hall, 108 East Green Street, TIIVIE/DATE: October 25, 2007 @ 3:30 pm Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Kerry Flannigan,, Ron Passmore, Laskowitz, Staff, N. Falconer. And Deputy Chief Vallely. Excused: Councilperson Maria Coles, Wm Bibbie, Bird MacGruder . The meeting was called to order at 3:36 pm. R 1. Approval of minutes of September 27, 2007 Motion made by B. Wigden, seconded by J. Laskowitz. Minutes were ap ed 6 TOO unanimously.����,�, 2. Comments by the Public,��� No one from the public was present. 3. Report from Common Council S £s No one was present from Common Council. 4. Report From Police Department Acting Chief Vallely reported on the various issues that are keeping the department extremely busy. 5. Old Business a) Apple Harvest tabling was discussed. The table was very busy- more so than it has ever been. Many pamphlets (brochures) were taken, and we are out of balloon twisties, helium tanks etc.. 6. New Business: Chair Slattery reported that Councilperson Claiborne requested CPB attendance at the Emergency Contact Advisory Board on 11/14/2007 in order to learn more about our functioning. Wigden, laskowitz, Slattery and Flannery may all attend. Request for staff to make sheets of statistics to be used by them at the meeting. 7.. Motion to Adiourn to Executive session To Discuss Results of Current Investigations. Motion by Laskowitz and second by Flannigan. 8. Return to Public Session, Report on Findings and Adiournment Progress on seven complaints were discussed .1.Casried over, a meeting is set up for the acting Chief and complainant. (Flannery) 2. This complaint investigation was previously postponed because of internal IPD investigation. CPD has now started our investigation Carried over.(Slattery) 3. This complainant was offered a chance, but does not wish to meet with the officer or the chief re his complaint. Members feel the complaint is without merit, but will refrain from voting until Board member has met with officer by himself. (Passmore) 4. This investigation is being carried over to next month for one more meeting that needs to be held. (Bibbie) 5. This complaint is considered conciliated and is closed. (MacGruder) 6. Two complaints from the same citizen assigned to Wigden, who has just begun to investigate. Carried over. 7. Carried over to complete a meeting with complainant and officer before bringing to a vote.
